1. O lightening that brought life to his sleepless night
Have you no news for me from the bending sand dunes?

His beauty delights your eyes in his tresses,

7. Banishes care, be it deep or slight.
I seek God's forgiveness. Since the sun of old age rose

8. At the fading of youth's night, and sank.
Leave remembering loves you craved in the days

9. When the garden of youth was green.
Turn your words to one, if you composed

10. The stars' flowers in praise of him, it would be nothing.
A king made of valor and nobility

11. Who puts titles to shame, turns their bitterness sweet.
His ambitions rode the regiments in which

12. Every audacious hero had his place.
Naked they came to attack him at home

13. And found no protector or minister there.
So at dawn God's armies came on them

14. And left them corpses piled on the hill.
Swords wrote with their blood

15. The fate of those who break faith or betray.
You roused a lion whose claws

16. Leave many victims buried in the dust.
You never thought that he who provoked you

17. Was not destined by nature for fear or flight.
He came when you had no wings to soar

18. Nor any chance when you took alarm.
You turned between slain and fleeing

19. Borrowing the ostrich's wing in panic.
The boy calls his father, knowing him well

20. But gets no answer, however loud his cry.
When the cloud of your ignorance lifted

21. You were like the rebuked spinners' wool.
If after this you want an evil end

22. Make mischief or refuse obedience if ordered.
Who will be like Abdullah on the day of battle,

23. When the champions fear the roses and breasts?
Striking the necks, aiming at the skulls

24. And forcing the horses over rugged ground.
Cubs of the black lions whose prey

25. Were kings' game when they sensed the hunt.
Why not ask Oman whose fires he lit

26. Till now flinging sparks skyward?
They took refuge in their forts, sure they would save them,

27. But he came like a swooping eagle and broke them.
You tasted a sample of their might

28. The day of Unayqah when your blood flowed wasted.
And at Batariq, the day of schism, a lesson

29. Had you men who understand events.
O fortunate king, good fortune's bird,

30. Unfurl your banner and meet glory and triumph.
With your grandfather's power this age smiles

31. After sullenness, and glory exults in this honor.
Arise, with God's help you will be victorious,

32. Rule their lands if you wish, absent and present.
Set the foundations of the glory founded

33. By your father while death's ocean seethed.
Brace yourself with a sword that if you strike with it

34. You will thank it for its feats.
Keener than a serpent, resolute for your order

35. Be it grave or slight.
Lofty in generosity, giver of bounties, pillar

36. Of supreme acts, who does not shun danger.
Your brother, your support, protector of the fallen,

37. Abdul Rahim, renowned in war.
While you two watch the horizon nothing mars

38. Your commanding the finest rank and life.
