1. I still enjoy prosperity and well-being
From your abundant Nile or from your good judgment

2. And I stay up nights acquiring knowledge and literature
Seeking your approval of my aims and traditions

3. And I endure for virtue’s sake what nights allow
Of trials for the virtuous from misfortunes

4. Until I’ve attained by my diligence some of what
My soul desired, as my homeland wished for me

5. So today I present to you what masterpiece I’ve created
To remain through timeless time from eras past
