Whose injustice tears my soul and lacerates me

To an eternal abode, for the intimate, pledged

15. The nights stretch long, do they stretch? For I have not seen
That I yearn for anything after you

16. Strange things I saw in the world of passion
I rejected them, and my heart bleeds

For which in my youth my heart built a booth

I nearly drowned in my dreams of love

And so I became blinded by your beauty

25. You take refuge in history, the history of my youth
Does history ever speak or move?

26. When the hopes of the fervent present are dashed
The matter of passion is a fabricated old tale

27. I have nothing to do with memories, that I live by their spirit
And spend from its purse, filled with illusion

A cloud of poverty, they swiftly tore away

35. For the desert, the day of misery, I prepared their love
Even the pure spring may flourish, then wither

36. I asked about them - indeed I asked - what
Did they answer? For them I care and worry

37. Brisk when the favors were sweet was their drink
But if they sensed harm in a frowning fate, they dodged

38. Come, come! My time is not fleeting
Nor do I falter in my quest for glory

39. I am the ferocious lion you know
And from my ferocity the age complains and scowls

40. Come, come! Before desire dies out
And I forget - though I've forgotten - my love, so believe me

41. I forgot what was between us
Did I ever love or passionately adore?

42. The Eid nights were beautiful for a time, but they were not
Except embers burning the passionate youth

43. Peace on that Eid night you recall
Though nothing of the Eid remains bound

44. The Eid night was beautiful in what it was, and ended
We recount our talks, then grieve and fall silent

45. Were my Eid nights a dream I concocted
With my imagination, and it was a fabricated lie?

46. Nights we spent as the flowers of passion nourished them
With its watering, exuding fragrance

47. Nights we spent, and fate slumbered
Not every night tears apart the eyelids of fate

48. We rejoiced and sang, and our singing
Were the delusions told by mature wine

49. Whispers burst out of us, silencing their voices
And the vision of beauty appeared, so we shrieked

50. We stripped bare the veil of secrecy in love, beyond it
Forbidden words patchworked with thread

51. The revelers did no wrong - never! - they
With their sins in us are more righteous and honest

52. The Eid is not the people's Eid, but our Eid
And we bestow mercy upon them in charity

53. When a friend gains a glance, it is by our command
He lives and is sustained in love

54. Your past is lost to me, I have misplaced it
By my own will, and my will in treachery is absolute

55. When my hopes in a lover despair, I abandon him
And disavow him, repaying betrayal with betrayal

56. The past has lied and what it secured, I betrayed
And made it into a ridiculous fib

57. Be cast into fire or tossed into the sea, so depart
For every traitor is cremated or drowned

58. The like of me sees your disloyalty to his love
Though my poetry, after God, creates beauty

59. I will remember the Eid night that I loved you
And was never a fickle player in love

60. I will remember the Eid night, what passion was
We enjoyed, as fate, like an arrow, pierced

61. I will remember the Eid eve, the moon hurling
Its waves, and light, like flowers, suffocating

62. I will slaughter my heart tomorrow, I have slaughtered it
So no heart remains for me, a restless lover, to bind

63. Peace upon my heart, peace and mercy
And a melody like flowers, or more fragrant still

64. Did I ever have a heart whose covenant
I revisited, claiming one day it pulsed?

65. Did I adore you, entering your abode
Infatuated there with beauty, passionately loving?

66. I have repented, my heart's repentance, I slaughtered it
And made it spill with tears and blood

67. Where have you gone? Did you alight at an abode
Whose dawn in the night's gloom you illuminate?

68. You crazed my heart, or I crazed your heart
Oh, if only I could ascertain my tribulation!

69. Did you travel intentionally, as if
You were weary of being my neighbor?

70. You trouble my days by your aloofness
Passion has forgiven you, for it is gentle

71. Come, come! I have no patience
To drown in its deep water so bitter

72. Some youth tries to befriend me
But I own a heart like diamond that pierces through armor

73. Where did you go? Ah, I search for you
And whoever blocked you from me, I dread and separate

To believe I am freed of fervent passion

You have misplaced your most cherished, gentlest friend

90. To orphanhood - what you have reached in your ignorance!
So taste the torment of an orphan, or taste it

91. Easy is the killing of sublime beauty I saw
And witnessed - I am one who ascertains

92. You will spend the Eid night gnashing in anguish
For, if it smiles, it is a blazing hell

93. Take the new Eid night with a shriek
That nearly makes the slumbering fate speak

94. Take it, take it, and drink it pure
It is fate straight, and it is most ruinous

95. Take the happy Eid night in grief
That nearly shocks the towering heavens

96. Take it, take it - I do not want it
Though my heart is pinned with yearning

97. You think I will recall your era
And deprive myself of tranquil sleep, remaining awake?

98. With this delusion your sweetness was lost
Each fanciful delusion, the imagination beats

99. I blame you - never! I am no blamer
Nor do I corroborate deceitful passion

100. I blame you - who can I blame? I
Am more ignorant than one stung by blame's illumination
