At night we were safe from fate’s cruelty

2. And we found it, lovers graceful, as though we were
Doves kissing beak to beak

3. The world has changed and its bliss is gone
And if you don’t know, I’m a lad who knows

Your healing is with me if you come to my chest

And I was to it a full moon rising toward a crescent

6. I recalled the days of Tuesday and love
Spinning around us, waist embracing waist

7. Indeed I was on Tuesday intoxication
To my soul, mind and leftover wine

8. Why should a lover be blamed
For loving you when love itself is not a sin

9. I recalled the sandy night, night of your company
And the branch has growing longing for the sandy bank

10. And Ismail Street and the night dissolving you
In years of war being in the darkness of fate

11. If beauty has made you rich, I am
Rich with my poetry, oh the wealth of poetry

12. I sipped from your cheek a cup of wine
And so I live the soul from that nectar

13. If days have passed, I will live
Remembering them till the end of life

14. Oh knight of knights what will you do
If you do not ride my steed or stallion

15. Your eyes, oh your eyes, oh agony
For your glance inlaid with light and sorcery

16. I passed by the house you know
So my eyes are lined with your white dusk

17. Do you recall on Tuesday an hour
We spent crossing the desert at noon

18. We cried and sang with you beside me
So water sprang from that rock

19. And Ramses Street, do you forget its times
As we turn love to embers, ember to ember

20. I will forget as you forget, no strange thing that
Not all forgetting comes from vision’s loss

21. I will forget what was between you and I
Though forgetting becomes a kind of blasphemy

22. Three days have passed and you did not come
Did your eyes after me see another lad?
