1. Her body is like a red rosebud, it seems
As though from its softness a garden is nurtured by rains

2. You see it every day bearing in its womb
Offspring without needing intercourse

3. So her children are either dark, withering
In her belly, or else fair and thriving

4. She raises up the dark ones not for fighting
And nourishes the fair not for battles

5. For neither her dark nor her fair offspring
Are inclined to bearing burdens or arms
