So take me there, O Abū Faraj take me

2. And hurry me through the dark of night
Pay no heed to your friends left behind

3. One like me awaits no companions
When the matter is pressing and dire

4. Make haste with me, Abū Faraj make haste
And if you hurry, you have gained freedom

5. I remembered my loved ones and my longing grew
Reaching the heights of agony

6. I remembered eternity, souls flowing
Through it, water gushing, gushing

7. Is there a draught to quench my passion
Of Tigris water, from where it tasted sweet?
