1. If you are a water-bearer in robes
Of fine linen or silken cloaks,
١. إن كُنتِ سَاقِيةً بِبُز
لِ الأُدمِ أَو بِحِقَاقِها
2. Then give to drink the sons of Nahd when
They have sipped the choice of its alleys.
٢. فَاسقِي بَني نَهد إِذَا
شَربُوا خِيَارَ زِقَاقِها
3. For the steeds know well how
To attack her at dawn after overtaking her,
٣. فالخيلُ تَعلَمُ كَيفَ نَلحـ
ـقُهَا غَداةَ لحِاقِهَا
4. With blue lances that have dyed red
The people at the height of her alleys,
٤. بأسنّةٍ زُرق صبحنـ
ـا القومَ حَدَّ رِقاقِها
5. Until you see the butts of the spears
And the whites in their necks.
٥. حَتَّى تَرَي قِصَدَ القَنَا
والبِيضَ فِي أَعنَاقِها
