1. I was adamant, and in memory I was obstinate
For they have often aroused lamentation

2. After description upon description from Khadija
My waiting has been long, O Khadija

3. In the belly of the two sheaths is my hope
That I will see some emergence from it

4. With what you told us of the words of the priest
That he dislikes the monks being adversaries

5. That Muhammad will dominate among us
And dispute with whoever opposes him

6. And the light of a shining star will appear in the lands
With which the deserts surge turbulently

7. Whoever fights him will meet with loss
And whoever makes peace with him will attain success

8. Oh, would that when that occurs
I am there to witness it and be the first of them plunging in

9. Plunging into that which Quraysh hated
Even if Mecca foamed with rage

10. I hope for that which they all hated
To the Lord of the Throne if they ascend haughtily

11. Can the matter of the lowly be anything but disbelief?
In the One who chose the loftiest constellation

12. If they remain and He remains, there will be matters
At which the unbelievers cry out angrily

13. And if He destroys them, every young man will meet
From fate unravelled ends
