For I see the dawn has brought good tidings with its call.

١. قُم فَاِسقِني قَبلَ أَصواتِ العَصافيرِ
إِنّي أَرى الصُبحَ قَد نادى بِتَبشيرِ

2. A golden wine from aged barrels in Beirut,
Throwing the repentant into delirium and raving madness.

٢. صَفراءَ مِن خَمرِ بَيروتٍ مُعَتِّقَةً
تَرمي النَدامى بِتَخثيرٍ وَتَفتيرِ

3. It intoxicated the revelers with a cup that held a sweet delight,
Binding them tipsy before the heat of noon could sneak up and spoil the fun.

٣. سَقَّ النَديمَينِ مِن كَأسٍ لَها حَبَبٌ
قَبلَ الحُميّا رَهيناً غَيرَ مَنزورِ

4. Turn it gently rightwards as we drink it,
Like a witness standing before a crooked judge.

٤. عَنِ اليَمينِ أَدِرها حينَ نَشرَبُها
كَشاهِدٍ عِندَ قاضٍ قامَ بِالزورِ
