1. Tempt me and offer me
A drink from Aṣbahān,

2. A drink from the Sheikh Kisrā's cellar,
Or a drink from Kairouan.

3. Mix the cup but don't overdo
The Anfalān mixture.

4. In the cup there is musk,
Or in my palm the water-pourer.

5. It was surely tempered
When it was poured into the jars.

6. Crown me, adorn me,
And with my hair sing my praises.

7. Release my shackles
And tighten my reins,

8. For the cup is but a spring
To be sipped through the branches.

9. The cup’s ardour crept
Between my legs and my tongue.
