8. Circling they corresponded in their litters
From the valley of Mecca individually and in pairs

And receiving stones and pillars from it

11. And shuttling Sa`i between the two hills devoutly
Sometimes hastily and above composure sometimes

12. And in Mina, they hamstrung camels
Aged she-camels and young

13. And they petitioned for rain at the stance of Arafah, and
The sky of God had clouded over them in approval

14. A land you see barren for ages
And Hajj growing white hair and youth on it

15. As if the resurrection had hastened them
So they took shrouds from the bellies of the earth

So how much beauty the Merciful adorned for us in them

Every withdrawal from homelands, homelands

18. And the settled ones in it and the people dispersed
Among us and them, we had family and brethren

19. And at al-Maqassab a lively young gazelle stretched its wrist
To stone the Jamarat, but it missed us and made us deaf

20. It gifted us without knowing its skill
Coolness to the eye and burning to the innards

21. Asking about the way of Hajj, I said to him
God accepts only the most difficult offering

22. For it is the way to the dwellings of Paradise, so say
What makes us eternal inhabitants

23. When we embarked upon it, we brought out passion
From our breasts, our families, and belongings

24. Then in it he leveled in safety and caution
Equally from God the weak and mighty

25. So many great ones passed by our side
And so much we were troubled by hate overtaking us

26. And so much ruin shot at us from Ma'tabah's bow
But God drove it away lest it make us deaf

27. And so much we sought glory, its pursuit arduous
When we despairingly gave up on it and it came to us

28. And the thorn trees entangle the howls in it
Imagining it, from the perfection of creation, a structure

29. The gaze is embarrassed to grasp its peak
Until it spins back to its thrower, confused

30. We approached yet could not be guided but by the pole
Of the night stars steering us like steering marks

31. We fled quickly as if distance cheated us
Or we rode upon that darkness, blindness

32. When dawn drew near to us, our guide said
Oh remoteness from where we camped, good morning

ูŠุง ุจูุนุฏูŽ ู…ูŽุตุจุญู†ุง ู…ู† ุญูŠุซู ู…ูŽู…ู’ุณุงู†ุง

33. And the lean camels, emaciated in entrails
If not for saddlebags, we would have left them pegs

ูฃูฃ. ูˆูŽุงู„ุนููŠุณู ุทุงูˆูŠุฉู ุงู„ุฃุญุดุงุก ุถุงู…ุฑุฉูŒ
ู„ูˆู„ุง ุงู„ุฑู‘ูุญุงู„ู ู„ุฎู„ู†ุงู‡ู†ู‘ ุฃุดุทุงู†ุง

34. If it came to a town from distant wasteland
The town pelted the newcomer with countries

ูฃูค. ุฅุฐุง ุฃุชุชู’ ุจู„ุฏุงู‹ ุนู† ุบูุจู‘ู ู…ูŽุชู’ู„ูŽููŽุฉู
ุฑูŽู…ู‰ ุจูู‡ุง ุงู„ุจู„ุฏู ุงู„ู…ุฃุชูŠู‘ู ุจู„ุฏุงู†ุง

35. Crashing with dishevelment bought themselves with wage
And seldom took payment for them

36. When called from the regions of Mecca, they raced
To bear the litters, faithfully and confidently

37. Oh land of Najd, may God water you pouring
From clouds abundant sweet water filled up

38. When lightning smiles in it collected
The thunder bellowed from its edges neighing

ููŠ ุญุงููŽุชูŽูŠู’ู‡ู ุฃูŽุฑูŽู†ู‘ูŽ ุงู„ุฑู‘ุนุฏู ุฅุฑู’ู†ุงู†ุง

39. A land whose wilderness you see to be intruding
Yet in its plants are lavender and mugwort

ูฃูฉ. ุฃุฑุถูŒ ุชุฑู‰ ูˆุญุดูŽู‡ุง ุงู„ุขุฑุงู…ูŽ ู…ูุทู’ููู„ูŽุฉู‹
ูˆููŠ ู…ู†ุงุจุชู‡ุง ุงู„ู‚ูŽูŠู’ุตููˆู…ูŽ ูˆุงู„ุจุงู†ุง

40. And if you glance upon its ground closely
You will find only gardens and meadows

ูคู . ูˆุฅู†ู’ ุชูุฌูู„ู’ ููŠ ุซุฑุงู‡ุง ุทูŽุฑู’ููŽ ู…ูุฎุชุจุฑู
ู„ุง ุชูŽู„ู‚ูŽ ุฅู„ู‘ุง ุญูŽุฏูŠู‚ุงุชู ูˆุบูุฏุฑุงู†ุง

41. I recalled its tempests passionately
And it resumed for me the pleasures of youth

42. Days the days did not weary my branch
And gray hair did not scare the charm from my temples

43. Days the gazelles throw themselves if I fancied and if
I spoke towards me, glances and ears perked up

44. Days found me only meeting an appointment
I ask for when it is due

45. Days my place was the dwelling of youth
And my time the season of pleasures

46. As for Ibn Hamd, he has fulfilled his duty
When he accompanied us, but he who betrayed, betrayed

47. And they did not change to me though they struggled
Thwarted, and if they were noble to people, trifling

48. And I was not pelted with the disgrace of her
Who secretly ditched and the people openly defended

49. And my gaze does not repeat upon His creation
Except I harvest beautiful bounty and favor

50. Sometimes he brings me into the sweetness of his eloquence
Comfort and breezes of basil from him

51. As if I were from him in the vastest greenery
The bend of the two cliffs crashing and toppling
