1. Whoever stayed in these abodes
Or donned a garment and it lasted,

2. We are amazed to mourn those who have passed
Led by death, year after year.

3. They left us as old men, elders and worries,
As infants, youths and boys.

4. The miserly, tight-fisted ones,
And the generous, profuse feeders.

5. They settled every high and lofty place,
The eyes brimmed with tears and then came rest.

6. Oh how God neglected the reckoning
While we were sleepy-eyed from it and fell asleep.

7. As if when I saw the people of reckoning
Oblivious, I saw them sleeping.

8. Oh death, how you have let down
The highest of status or swept away glory.

9. And if you sneak behind and they think
A rescue from your hands, you were ahead.

10. You joined the foolish with the wise
In an alliance, and the lowly with the lofty.

11. An event has visited me and robbed my sleep
Sitting the eyebrows down and standing them up.

12. I was warned of it but my avoidance of it
Clung to its harm and became obligated.

13. And as if when I carried the news
I carried decay and withering.

14. So take today my tears which were
Solid in grief over the calamity, unmoving.

15. The Shaykh of Islam, religion and knowledge is gone
So Islam was shaken.

16. He who was a wonderful dark night
Passed away, making the days desolate.

17. How you clarified doubts, objecting in a
Clear scripture! And how you supported the imam!

18. And hostile, cruel enemies you filled
In the heat of conflict with conflict.

19. They saw you bear the fury of slaughter without
Your hands releasing any arrows.

20. And a brave one who turns away hardships - not every brave one
Turns away attacks and passions.

21. Whoever, if a side of the religion’s building tilted
Had his hands as pillars.

22. And if an oppressor declined from his guidance
He led him back, so he held the reins.

23. One whose merits you brought out something hidden
And meanings you disclosed their seals.

24. One whose evil you distinguished something good
And licit you extracted from the illicit.

25. One who enlightens minds after they were
Depressed and produces understandings.

26. One who lends the friend perspective when
Afflicted by calamities was a sword.

27. So pass with loathing for faults - how many
Men have produced faults and blame!

28. You showed forebearance but it returned violent
And a dawn you brought out became darkness.

29. And a potion you administered turned painful
And a cure you bequeathed illness.

30. You will not see me, while you are among the dead
Except adorned with a mark.

31. And if you pass from me, I do not doubt
The rest of mankind’s respect.

32. If you were a sinner and are not, you have
Borne a people who carried sins -

33. For them on Judgement Day prestige, when
They extend it, will suffice and enrich people.

34. Do not fear the moment of repayment even if
Some people fear - for you have taken the reins.

35. I consign to God what lawful things you unravelled -
In them favors and honor.

36. And turn away whenever the times disavowed him
And he did not taste bitterness in eras.

37. And decreed your grave be for mercy
And safety a lodging and abode.

38. And if it rains upon the graves, making
Them desolate, may it rain upon you peace.
