1. I have been wary of you all and kept you at bay,
While you are under God's protection amidst perils.

2. So why should you be of concern to me, when I have lived serenely,
Fearing your malice towards me on false pretexts?

3. So do not feel secure, if you have felt secure,
From the arrows of enemies and arrows of fate.

4. And how often have I shaken my fist in triumph over my clan's foes
In rugged battle, while God is my helper!

5. And how often have I dreaded a matter before its onslaught,
And clad it perforce in fine robes, and it harmed me not!
