إن التي حكت الضحى

1. She who spun tales at dawn
While morning lurked in the folds of night

١. إِنّ الّتي حَكتِ الضّحى
والصُّبحُ في أسْرِ الدّياجِي

2. The day she set her traps for me
With her ropes of love

٢. ما كنتُ يومَ تعرّضتْ
لِي من حِبالتها بناجِ

3. She made my heart ache with yearning
And nursed it with hope

٣. أدْوَتْ فؤادِي من صَبا
بتها وضنّتْ بالعلاجِ

4. And though I say to her, one who
Persists in false hope is led astray

٤. ولقد أقولُ لها وضل
لَ عن النّصيحةِ مَنْ يُداجِي

5. O sweetness, how much bitterness
There is for the lovesick besides you

٥. يا حُلْوةً كم دون حُلْ
وكِ للمتيَّمِ من أُجاجِ

6. And when you spurn me, you have done
Wrong, for my wish rests in your hands

٦. وإذا ضَنِنْتِ فقد أسَأْ
تِ وفي يديكِ بلوغُ حاجِي
