1. You have the long night after they are gone,

2. And tears, if you restrain them from their path,

3. I wish the flocks of tears that flowed
Could extinguish my burning thirst or heal my sickness,

ูุน ุงููุชู ุฌุฑุชู
ุฃุณูููู ูููู
ุงู ุฃู ุดููู ุบูููุง
4. I pretend to be healthy every night and day,
Yet my inner self refuses except to be sick.

ููุฃุจู ุงูุฌูู ุฃููุง ุฃููู ุนูููุง
5. It is as if I and my love are forbidden loves,
And I hope for an ungenerous union.

ูุฃูุฑุฌู ุถููููุงู ุจุงููุตุงูู ุจุฎููุง
6. So say to the one who cries softly and grievously
And mourns an image in the bare land:

ูููุฉู
ูููุฏุจ ุฑุณู
ุงู ุจุงูุนุฑุงุกู ู
ูุญููุง
7. "Let my blood be lawful to me if I see
A complaint that makes me cry for long.
ูง. ุนุฏุงูู ุฏู
ู ููู ุทููู ุจุงูุทููู ุฅูู ุฃูุฑู
ุดุฌููุงู ุฃูุจูููู ุฃุฑูุจูุนุงู ูุทูููุงู
8. If I face its strangeness with patience,
I will find many to console me a little.

ุตุงุจู ุฅุฐุง ูุงุจูุชู ุจุงูุตูุจุฑู ุบูุฑูุจูู
ูุฌุฏุชู ูุซูุฑู ูู ุงูุนุฒุงุกู ููููุง
9. And blame I carried whose heaviness was as if
I had borne no other burden as heavy as it all my life.

ุฏู ุงูุฏููุฑ ูู
ุฃุญู

10. And you found the enemies of the faith after Mohammed
A way to hurt him through his nearest kin.

ุฅูู ููููู
ูู ูู ุงูุฃูุฑุจูู ุณุจููุง
11. It is as if you never bowed down humbly
Openly in the world, feeling weak and submissive,

ุฎุดูุนุงู ู
ุจููุงู ูู ุงููุฑู ูุฎู
ููุง
12. And which of you gained honor through his faith,
When before that he lived an age in disgrace?

ุง ุนุฒู ูููุง ุจุฏููู
ููุฏ ุนุงุด ุฏูุฑุงู ูุจู ุฐุงู ุฐูููุง
13. So say to the tribes of Harb and Banu Umayya,
If you wish I call you despicable.

ูููุฉู
ุฅุฐุง ููุชู ุชุฑุถู ุฃู ุชููู ูุคููุง
14. You stole against the household of the Prophet, swords
Filled with smoothness in the scabbards and remnants.

ู ุนูู ุขูู ุงููุจูู ุณููููู
ู
ูููุฆููู ุซูููู
ุงู ูู ุงูุทููู ูููููุง
15. And you were led to the one who led you from your misguidance
And brought you out from its two valleys, horses.

ู ุฅูู ู
ูู ูุงุฏูู
ู ู
ู ุถูุงููู
ู
ูุฃุฎุฑุฌูู
ู ู
ู ูุงุฏููู ุฎูููุง
16. You only betrayed the one whose grandfather
Was to you, so you might gain deliverance, a messenger.

ุชูุบุฏุฑูุง ุฅููุง ุจูู
ูู ูุงูู ุฌุฏูููู
ุฅูููู
ู ูุชูุญูุธูููุง ุจุงูููุฌุงุฉู ุฑุณููุง
17. And you are pleased to oppose wisdom if your rule
Be lasting, and you make the lasting frail.

18. The wives of the Messenger of God, your homes
Were sacrilegious, and they return from you bitterly wailing

ููู
ู ููุนุฉู ูุนูููุง
19. For them in Bouqaa' of Taff griefs
They were given death to drink, children and adults.
ูกูฉ. ูููู ุจุจูููุบุงุกู ุงูุทูููู ุฃุนุฒูุฉู
ุณูููุง ุงูู
ูุชู ุตูุฑููุงู ุตุจูุฉู ูููููุง
20. It was as if they were lamps in a garden demolished
By winds blowing from south or north,
ูขู . ูุฃููููู
ู ููููุงุฑู ุฑูุถู ููููุชู ุจู
ุฑูุงุญู ุฌูููุจุงู ุชุงุฑุฉู ูููุจููุง
21. And stars of night that did not rise high
Until for our eyes they set into their decline.

ู ูููู ู
ุง ุนููู ุทูุงูุนุงู
ูุฃุนูููุง ุญุชูู ูุจุทู ุฃููููุง
22. What moons were there not darkened by eclipse?
And what branches were there that did not wither?

ูุญูู ุจูุงุณูู
ูุฃููู ุบุตููู ู
ุง ูููู ุฐุจููุง
23. After you gave him your covenants swiftly,
Did you not hastily break those covenants,
ูขูฃ. ุฃูู
ูู ุจุนุฏ ุฃูู ุฃูุนุทููุชู
ูู ุนููุฏููู
ู
ุฎูุงูุงู ุฅูู ุชูู ุงูุนููุฏ ุนูุฌููุง
24. And turn back deliberately from the clear path,
And swerve from the shining truth, deviating?

ู ุนู ุงููุตุฏ ุงูู
ุจูู ุชูุงูุตุงู
ูุญููุชู
ู ุนู ุงูุญูู ุงูู
ููุฑ ุญูุคููุง
25. You clattered his doors, deceiving him,
And whoever did not want deceit met foolishness.

ู ุฃุจูุงุจูู ุชุฎุชูููููู
ูู
ูู ูู
ูุฑุฏู ุฎูุชููุงู ุฃุตุงุจ ุฎูุชููุง
26. You did not cease until he answered your call,
And which generous man does not answer a questioner?

ู ุญุชูู ุฃุฌุงุจ ูุฏุงุกูู

ูุฃููู ูุฑูู
ู ูุง ูุฌูุจ ุณูุคููุง
27. So when he came near, he found you in battalions
Stretching, the horses' buttocks elongated.

ู ูู ูุชุงุฆุจู
ุชุทุงููููู ุฃูุทุงุฑ ุงูุณูุจุงุณุจ ุทููุง
28. When did you hear from them the clatter or like the clatter
Of a small horse, doubled clamor and neighing?

ููุง ุญูุฌูุฒูุฉู ุฃู ูุญุฌุฒุฉู
ุณู
ุนุชู ุฑูุบุงุกู ู
ุถุนูุงู ูุตูููุง
29. But he saw only those who break vows or who flee,
Or the cut off, the vile, arrivals,
ูขูฉ. ููููู
ููุฑู ุฅููุง ูุงูุซุงู ุฃู ู
ููููุจุงู
ูุฅููุง ููุทูุนุงู ููุฐูู
ุงู
ู ุญููููุง
30. Or holding back from the banners, failing to help them,
Or cowardly, betraying and weak.
ูฃู . ูุฅููุง ููุนูุฏุงู ุนู ููู
ุงู
ู ุจููุตูุฑููู
ูุฅููุง ุฌูุจููุงู ุจุงูุฑูุฏู ูุฎุฐููุง
31. And snoring from sleepers waking,
And breasts filled flowing with madness,
ูฃูก. ูุถูุบููู ุดุบุงูู ูุจู ุจุนุฏ ุฑูุงุฏู
ูุฃูุฆุฏุฉู ู
ูุฃู ููููุถููู ุฐูุญููุง
32. And white slender-lipped mares, sleek,
And brown, long-bodied, docile.
ูฃูข. ูุจูุถุงู ุฑูููุงุชู ุงูุดููุงุฑ ุตูููุฉู
ูุณู
ุฑุงู ุทูููุงุชู ุงูู
ุชูู ุนูุณููุง
33. Neither did you make way for him to you
Nor when he wanted to return.
ูฃูฃ. ููุง ุฃูุชู
ู ุฃูุฑุฌุชูู
ู ุนู ุทุฑููู
ุฅูููู
ู ููุง ูู
ูุง ุฃุฑุงุฏ ูููููุง
34. Dearer to the settler in Tayba was Azraโs son,
Abandoned on the ground of Taff, ripped apart.
ูฃูค. ุนุฒูุฒู ุนูู ุงูุซูุงูู ุจุทูููุจูุฉู ุฃูุนูุธูู
ู
ููุจูุฐููู ุนูู ุฃุฑุถ ุงูุทููููู ุดููููุง
35. Every generous person is not touched by any shame.
If he is attributed evil words, he says good.

ูููู ุงููุญุด ูุงู ุฌู

36. They are prevented from the Euphrates' water and made
To drink the cup of martyrdom instead of Euphrates' water.

ุงุกู ุงููุฑุงุชู ููุฏ ุณูููุง ุงูุด
ุดูุงุฏุฉู ู
ู ู
ุงุกู ุงููุฑุงุช ุจุฏููุง
37. They threw them into death where they did not fear it
And they were deluded - how often is the deluded deluded!

ู ุญูุซ ูุง ูุญุฐุฑููู
ูุบูุฑููุง ููู
ุบูุฑู ุงูุบููููู ุบููููุง
38. Oh day of Ashura, how many calamities
Against the Prophet's family you brought down!

ู ูุฌูุนุฉู
ุนู ุงูุบูุฑู ุขูู ุงูููู ููุชู ููุฒููุง
39. You entered upon their homes with their disaster.
Yes, miserable is that entering, that entry!

ุง ุฐุงู ุงูุฏูุฎูู ุฏูุฎููุง
40. You took away from us the martyr of God, but
You only took away our right hand or little.

ูุฒุนุชู ูู
ููุงู ุฃู ูุนุทุชู ููููุง
41. We found after him the religion of Ahmed
Shackled, and the honor of the Muslims slain.

ูููุฏุงู ูุนุฒูู ุงูู
ุณูู
ูู ูุชููุง
42. So do not diminish with injustice the one whose Lord
Is pledged to return what you disputed with him.
ูคูข. ููุง ุชุจุฎุณูุง ุจุงูุฌูุฑ ู
ูู ูุงู ุฑุจููู
ุจุฑูุฌูุนู ุงููุฐู ูุงุฒุนุชู
ูู ููููุง
43. I love the Prophet's family, and I do not see,
Even if they wrong me, any replacement for my love.
ูคูฃ. ุฃุญุจูููู
ู ุขูู ุงููุจูู ููุง ุฃุฑู
ููุฅูู ุนุฐูููู ุนู ููุงู ุนุฏููุง
44. And I said to the one who turns me from passion for them,
'How many who lack good advice are turned away!'
ูคูค. ูููุช ูู
ู ูููุญู ุนู ุดูุบููู ุจูู
ููู
ุบูุฑู ุฐู ูุตุญู ูููู ุนุฐููุง
45. Restrain yourselves, do not lead me to your misguidance,
For you will not make me in the morning humiliated.

ู ูุง ุชูุญูููู ุถูุงูููู

ููู ุงูุบูุฏุงุฉู ุฐููููุง
46. Upon you is the peace of God, living and dead,
Traveling, obeying the resolve and halting.

ูุณูููุฑุงู ุชุทูุนูู ุงููููู ูุญูููุง
47. So my heart has not swerved from passion for you,
Nor has my step swerved from what you approve.
