1. My greetings of peace upon you, O guardian of our blessings,
In you are my praises and in you is my refuge,

2. And in the favors with which you have honored me,
Is my desire, whether in family or in society,

3. You have fulfilled my highest hopes,
And increased them, not stinting what I hoped for,

4. You surpassed kings even though they drew close,
As the dawn surpasses the darkness,

5. With courage the lion fears,
And generosity that delights the generous,

6. So you have enriched a land that became
Covered by the clouds of your comfort instead of clouds of sorrow,

7. And how often we wished you well, for our own good,
Not wishing you to be unyielding,

8. The chests are filled with vileness
And the limbs thirst for forbidden drink,

9. The words of this life lead them astray,
And they are warned away from the manners of scoundrels,

10. Look around you, O king of the people, east
And west, do you see any who compare to you?

11. And has God left for you any enemy
To beware of in these times?

12. Give abundant thanks to the one who assumed
Responsibility for sending you magnificent blessings,

13. For New Year’s Day brings only the best of days,
Its good tidings for you are the best year,

14. It tells of your wishes being fulfilled,
And it announces the permanence of your reign,

15. And a life as sweet as pure, chilled wine,
When vintage is poured sparkling into goblets,

16. So no nights threaten what they dread,
Nor do your days intend to end,

17. Nor do your affairs cease, each day,
To alternate between perfection and completeness,

18. So time cannot be blamed if its ups
And downs do not touch your sanctum.
