1. Rise and commend me above the valley and my pillow
For now the taste of my sleep has become pleasant

2. It has scattered my toil and rest has left me
And my eyes have replaced vigilance with slumber

3. And if you wish me well, then delight me
With attaining my goals and fulfilling my desires

4. For God there is a day in which I leaned towards wishes
And time inclined towards happiness leading me

5. And I was wary of the many matters of fate
So safety resided inside my heart

6. A gift from the Commander of the Faithful has blown
Generous from the giver of bounty and munificence

7. A mountain among mountains except that he is
Among people a child of children

8. And the sword, you are it and none who drew it
Among us would leave it without generosity

9. The forest is fearful when
Its cubs roar within it with the lions

10. And the spear thrust is inadequate in the fray
If not for the heads at the tips of lances

11. And the blade, if not for its sharp edge
You would not carry it on a day of fighting

12. They said a boy has come, so I said you speak true
But he is a pillar of pillars

13. If as an infant he is in the cradle sleeping
Tomorrow he will be atop the saddlebows

14. And you see him either above the pulpit
Advising all, or amidst the withers of steeds

15. No harm to him from a scabbard covering his sword
For blades are drawn from sheaths

16. And the moon, twilight shrouds it and sometimes
It appears amidst the stars shining

17. May God enliven a morn we visited
In which he revived and the night of birth

18. Quenched with victory and attained desires
Filled with aid and prosperity

19. So excellent is his era and its time
My Lord has watered it towards every clan

20. If the people were fair they would not have been fairer
Making of it a feast of feasts

21. O best of those my innermost thoughts leaned towards
Openly and those my steeds leaned towards

22. And son of one whose superiority all people
Confess, even if they are atop camels

23. Never have I seen, nor will I see one resembling him
Among ascetics and devout ever

24. He has sated his insight with piety and his oath
Is aloof from desires, the hunters

25. As if in his humility and clothes he is
The garb of successors, returning with spears

26. They hoarded blossoms for themselves but you were not a hoarder
Except of reward, gratitude, and hands

27. I am the adviser whom you have tested
Always loving and hating you

28. And if I have gored your mounts and torn down
What I took care to construct

29. I do not care after my closeness to you
If I become estranged from all people

30. And if I advise you I do not twist
What healed or opened my limbs

31. I am content with lowliness while you
Are the exalted and my forefathers were exalted

32. Your doors are bounteous and overflowing generosity
Where deputations alight and the ultimate goal of seekers

33. None are seen at them but them alone
The deputation of all and the throngs of visitors

34. I disdain to busy myself with other than your homes
Or to spur on other than them my camels

35. And if my happiness is among you I do not
Want, if given a choice, other than my happiness

36. As if I have donned the garb of wretchedness
In that I fashioned your praises in verse

37. It would not have been, had you not
Preferred a creature over my shoulders

38. I, in your neighborhood, have the most pleasant life
And loftiest position and most fertile pasture

39. Content that my soul ransom you and what
My palms contain suffices me of land and settlements

40. And if fate informs us of unattained desires
And shrouds in darkness our worldly hopes

41. We rise and attain what we wish of glory
Through the ever victorious and guided one

42. Seeking through his merit in himself
Bounty and through fathers and forefathers

43. It was not but in the heavens and did not ascend
The summits of glory in lands and hills

44. Rely only on me for service
I deem you best of all pillars

45. And when you scrutinize you will not see for me a peer
In serving, O most knowledgeable of critics

46. And if you want greatness then shout to one
In whom no immoderation in greatness progressed

47. Hasty to the caller of cries as if
Always expecting a summons from a caller

48. I am related to you in lineage and true devotion
I will always protect him and befriend him

49. My drawing near to kin has benefitted me
And I love most one who relates himself to me in amity

50. O you who control the world
With justice in decree and provision

51. My share that I was given of your love
And loyalty are my hoard for the day we meet

52. If you have deemed me deficient among you
Then you have multiplied those envious of me

53. For God's sake yours in a straitened stance
Hot embers blazing with kindling

54. As if feet quake therein
Having trod on the thorns of prickly pears

55. And the sword riots in your hand against the enemy
Striking between throngs and dunes

56. And the spear rends every hero's throat
Stabbing and drinking from the livers

57. And when he has drained all the reserves
The gore of the slain overwhelms the ambushers

58. And the steeds are stripped by the thrusting spear
As if created without skin

59. Until victory aided you, adorning you
In oathbreakers with the promise to punish

60. And your palm fulfilled for God's religion its due
And you attained for Islam all desires

61. So listen to praise that no blemish has tarnished
Its rhymes coursing through every land

62. Severer of each winding pass and gorge
Scourer of every lofty peak and tall sand dune

63. Adorning thereby purposes so that he is like
Beauty's adornment and grace of bodies

64. My approval of him is good so favor me with it
For I am pleased with him over all peers

65. No fault in him but that he has not heard
My speech and versified my recital
