1. You have all that the beholder's eyes desire
And to you returns all praise that flows

2. And I see you as the best of those endowed with merit
Whether concealed by the reticent or lauded by the vocal

3. This caliphate, since sitting on its throne
In the refined, brilliant raiment of time

4. Has settled with you, and anchored its protection with you
Though remote from the aspirations of the heart

5. You have abandoned its reins to others
Prey for the gluttony of the aged and the young

6. And if a nobility traces its origin
Your primacy has rendered the latter redundant

7. Your concerns have guaranteed every glory, every felicity
And your justice has stilled each errant opinion

8. And your glory has distanced itself from acknowledging any glory
A generosity that pours with the rainfall of the clouds

9. You have stands that do not diminish however much one vie
Valorous steeds or the platforms of pulpits

10. When you flooded its expanse, the vileness of time
Became the courser of virtues and good deeds

11. So glory, Commander of the Faithful, for I do not see
That you have a peer in glory among mankind

12. And greet the new month, for it has come
In the most auspicious of times, with the luckiest omen

13. Days come to you unsullied
Each petition finds your favor to be forthcoming

14. It is I whose hidden essence contents you
And you find my outward demeanor sufficient among the people

15. Your affection has poured into my eternity
As sleep pours into the eyelids of the wakeful

16. Why does a meeting with you elude me when it is for me
Raving madness while for others entirely possible

17. Perhaps a visit has nullified your rights
And it has allowed another to expound in rapture

18. The visit I most desire from you
Is one for which, among the people, I would pray for the luckiest visitor

19. Oh Lord, when my staff completes its extension
My boasts and my glories will proliferate

20. Will I tarry awhile in those realms
In that sublime, splendid, dazzling eminence

21. Or will my tongue one day translate
Some of what my conscience has harbored

22. And I am sure that my endeavor will not benefit me
If my endeavor does not have a supporter there

23. And if the greeting to the Caliph I present
Then speech's mother is the most barren spinster

24. So permit me the arrival, for I
Will be, with excessive longing, the first present
