1. A way for you to know what pained me
And what fate brought my way

2. So I said, if you gathered what was in me
Sunset on my condition would fill you

3. Time intentionally tempted me
So when it tempted me, it threw me away

4. And I have turned away from it, if only I
Could see it with my eyes as it sees me

5. I lead to the graves each day
Against my will, hidden in my shields

6. And I bid it farewell, as if I am kind
To it, to all the worn out resting places

7. Covered, where people lose their way
Like stray cattle in the wilderness

8. The bed of every slave and king
And the resting place of the honored and disgraced

9. And a beloved left me with the nights' inevitability
In whom my wishes gathered

10. And I become where wishes do not come
And they said you have become patient with calamities

11. So I said to them, what good is my patience?
And in the days there is a silent hammer

12. That takes the form of brave and coward
If it was not the one that weakened my right hand

13. Is it not the one that cracked my molars?
If it was not the one that split my cheek

14. Is it not the one that loosened my teeth?
Oh who excuses me from an evil neighbor

15. If I do not flee him, he comes to me
Insistent in what he wants from me

16. Even if I refrain, his place known to me
He has hands for what I earn

17. While I have nothing that I earn
I see him as peaceful yet he wages war

18. And count him far though he is near
His wrongs pass me for others

19. While my intimate does not wrong me
If only the one I avoided and shunned

20. Had shunned or abandoned me
You, more knowing today than me

21. See, the two cups did not quench my thirst
Did those two delight me

22. In whom I fell for what I heard from them?
And did you feel, leader of the camels

23. The eve they left me, tempting me?
The eve the beloved lessened herself from me

24. And did what I hated, the two lamenters
And I was careful in my words to you, hearing

25. Did you find any flaw in my explanation?
For I am one who disdains to utter

26. What news reaches him
Another, after five, empowered

27. To hold the camel's reins, rattling the bags
And patience for what I cannot avoid

28. By striking the hated or stabbing
And from greed I fool myself against certainty

29. Intentionally, and lie against evidence
And I remain sacrificing in the mortal world

30. With its misfortunes holding my reins
Every day events toy with me

31. And tell me the myths of time
With falsehoods it built

32. On glorification and honor clearly
They rose as virtues on platforms of grace

33. And reached high on the mountain peaks
They leaned on Iraq for those who see it

34. And its yards are shelters for them
So many causes for them lead to generosity

35. And many doors for them to gardens
And for the people is circumambulation around them

36. Their circumambulation around the Yemeni corner
Tombs for the prominent ones of Quraysh

37. Those of nobility, the verses recited for them
Of the eminent group who gathered ascensions

38. And won the lofty staffs of the wager
People who do not care for death

39. With the fires of war blazing smoke
Faced with war or drought they meet it

40. Obeying, seasoning the dry years
So make my companions halt with them

41. Before an awaited order comes
Stay in their shade as long as I live

42. And let my time reach me in their shelter
Perhaps I will neighbor them dead

43. And take from their intercession my wishes
For I have spent my life in mistakes

44. And taken from sins enough for me
