1. On the day we bid farewell, and everyone's eyes
Were brimming with tears on the day of parting.

2. We saw bare wrists, and could find
No patience, fragmented and feeble.

3. Ears heard only sobbing
And yearning on that day of turning back.

4. Oh what a day of exposure for the sufferer!
Oh what weeping of eyes and quaking of heart!

5. As if when parting addled our minds,
We embraced madness or drank turmoil.

6. As if eyes raining tears in torrents
Were branches, heavily laden and showering.
