1. Behold what feats the dove has wrought
What missiles its court has brought to naught

2. It has outstripped those with no access
Though zeal and desire give valiant chase

3. For how to meet one the nights have veiled
Whom mornings tax and darkness curtailed?

4. Vain are hopes of convening with souls
Who've settled where meetings lose their roles

5. They've neighbored, sermoning sans a word
Created for demise, though we're lured

6. By lifetimes that we perceive and sense
But heed not, as if deep in pretense

7. That tastes life's sweetness, for one who'll drain
Thereafter a cup of bitter bane

8. From its trysts, gloom; from its means, sorrow;
In joy or grief, we sleep till morrow

9. If doves but knew what we have seen
Of this world, disturbed they'd not careen

10. God's peace on those, though without salaam,
Who pass each day, serene and calm

11. On graves' perfume, valleys' verdure green
Though no clouds have wept pure and sheen

12. Vanished the vile with guilt pens inscribed
Strange, when sins their scrolls have imbibed

13. Clean of pocket, absent of sin
Too pure for ill-gotten worldly gain

14. On feet walked gently, frugal folk
Whose merit invocations have spoke

15. Their mention is joy, their abode
Immortalized, as if here they trode

16. Griefs befall you, Abu Ali
When respect they lack, worry not, be

17. For no created thing lives safe from death
Once arrows for him fly your breath

18. Unlike you, who condolences inspire
And conversation of blameless fire

19. You shun reproach and perfect his appraisal
When creation itself would beckon for trial
