Yet forbidden and taboo in the bright morn

Better than the brilliant dawn is darkness

10. Say to those tired of the road to enemies
Weary of saddle sores and reins

11. The vultures have rotting entrails as provender
Amidst every barren plain

12. They have hands that rob firmly gripped spears
Inclining mid sword thrust and decisive blow

And cease, for beyond ambitions lie ambitions

For this is an abode and dwelling

Though wealth gathers and accumulates in him

While the sun wears all concealing garb

20. And the land a pasture from his flowing torrents
The birds take flesh of corpses as food

21. Soon the foe you scattered as threads
When the maiden's ornament comes undone

22. As though they were plague victims in the waste
Silent where no silence can be found

23. How great the greed of men they thought
But failed that day and were disgraced

24. How many on an awful day attack staunchly
Though his sword arm in the fray is weak

25. Around you tongues wag at every narrow pass
Lean yet with elephantine souls

26. They did not sacrifice themselves
Except that they are honorable, though not all men so

27. When illness befell the King, wasting him
They knew for his cure you had no blame

28. You mended what no spear tip could pierce
No sword could penetrate with decisive blows

29. You cured him with gentleness when maddened
Though pliable and resolute both might fail

30. But for your sense of impartiality
Beyond halves you would not be just

31. Protect me from the words of slanderers
Their speech hollow though with words filled

32. If you wished their skin would not touch mine
Though oft you shielded me from arrows

33. Like a sick man's talk their words corrected
Are truth and lies mixed in speech

34. I am not one who mounts an affair, ridden
Blamed and faulted though innocent

35. I have no deceitful path or dwelling
No abode but loyalty do I claim

36. With a full moon free of your love

No reins but those held in your hands
