1. If Bakr's she-camel was blessed by Allah,
He would thank the place of its tail for that.
١. لَو أَنَّ بَكراً بَراهُ اللَّهُ راحِلَةً
لَكانَ يَشكُرُ مِنها مَوضِعَ الذَّنبِ
2. They do not belong to him, but they hang on him,
As the palm climber hangs on to the dried frond.
٢. لَيسوا إِلَيهِ وَلَكِن يَعلقونَ بِهِ
كَما تَعَلَّق راقي النَّخل بِالكَرَبِ
