1. When you come to him, humbly,
He seems as though you're the giver and he the asker.
١. تَراهُ إِذا ما جئتهُ مُتَهَلِّلاً
كَأَنَّكَ مُعطيهِ الَّذي أَنتَ سائِلُه
2. Noble is he, when you come seeking favor,
He loves you for the care you show to him.
٢. كَريمٌ إِذا جِئت لِلعُرفِ طالِباً
حَباكَ بِما تَحنو عَلَيهِ أَنامِلُه
3. Had he naught but himself in his possession,
He would give it. So let the asker beware of God.
٣. وَلَو لَم يَكُن في كَفِّهِ غَيرُ نَفسِهُ
لَجادَ بِها فَليَتَّقِ اللَّهَ سائِلُه
