1. May Allah preserve our present and past
Even if my determination stripped our past bare

2. Yet still the nights persist in plotting against me
And shoot arrows of blame piercing me

3. I know hardships make me more generous
Yet still I remain unclothed by worldly riches

4. I donned new clothes in this life
So generosity may renew what had worn out

5. No miserliness has ever crossed my mind
Nor people's stinginess ever crossed my thoughts

6. Oh how excellent to spend my life in glory
And sacrifice myself, my soul and wealth when praised
