1. O servant, if you want safety,
Contentment, and staying in Paradise,

2. Beware, beware of the evils of the tongue,
For they cause humiliation and disgrace.

3. Do not, my brother, say hearsay,
For it causes much harm and grief,

4. And crying, scandal, and wailing,
And sorrow, distress, and tribulation.

5. O servant, leave such talk,
For it is mostly blame or forbidden,

6. And stick to silence if you want peace,
From its harms at every moment.

7. How much has been revealed of the evils of gossip,
From the intercessor of mankind, the guiding Messenger,

8. So read the sayings and the facilitation to arrive,
You will admit that guarding speech is the way.

9. And does Noah throw people into hell,
Except for the vile word?

10. So whoever believes in the Merciful,
Should speak good and be silent to be safe.

11. Rather, the best of your Islam you see,
Is to discard what does not concern you,

12. And rebuke your own sin and leave the talk of others,
And suffice yourself with the monastery and the place.

13. How the Prophet censures those,
Who make what they say to people as their faith!

14. They are like the poets of old
To whom great sins were no burden.

15. And know that disasters all,
Stem from sitting with those who have them,

16. And staying away from the people of prohibition,
Those whose state and meanings elevate you.

17. For like cleaves to like in nature,
And a companion accompanies his peer,

18. Resembling him in attributes and deeds,
So said the one who attained knowledge.

19. So listen to the words of our noble master,
When he advises Obeid the jurist,

20. And warns him from every fool-
That is the whole poem, O man!

21. O Obeid, withdraw in this time,
From the prattlers with tongues,

22. You see their bodies shining in attire,
While their inner souls are filled with guile.

23. I describe them like the attributes of wolves,
Wearing clothes over bodies,

24. Entering by hypocrisy through every door,
And they have let loose evils unrestrained.

25. They resemble scorpions, pigs, and rams,
I wish they were in the furthest wilderness!

26. They have no joy but in dissent,
And evil gossip among the riffraff,

27. And gossip, deception, hypocrisy,
They have never enjoyed anything good.

28. We ask Allah, our noble Master,
The Subtle, Kind One to protect the devout one,

29. From the evils of temperaments and women,
God is enough for us, the best to be sought!

30. May God clarify for the Muslims,
May God suffice the evil of oppressors,

31. The Guardian, God of all worlds,
Whatever the Merciful decreed, it was!

32. And I ask Allah for a sincere repentance,
For aspirations in worship are deficient,

33. And souls dancing in disobedience!
Enough that death and Qur'an admonish!

34. Then bestow peace upon the guiding Messenger,
Ahmad the Chosen one, pure minds,

35. And Al-Hassan, Al-Hussain and the Virgin,
And the noble companions.

36. Thus ends the words of our advisor ,
Whose every word is beautiful.

37. It has emerged from a heart of integrity,
Every saying like the heavens.

38. Blessed is he who listens to the righteous,
The guiding, advising caregivers.

39. Happy is he in the world and faith,
And receives his wishes in every matter.

40. Like the words of our beloved master,
Truly his touch is that of a healer,

41. So follow his saying and repent,
As exemplified versified like fine pearls.

42. How can you be content in an abode that perishes,
Its core filled with work and worries,

43. And suffering, tribulations and sorrows,
Reject it for it is insignificant and disdained!

44. This abode contains no happiness,
That is empty of the incorporation of evils.

45. Whoever loves it, his mind wanders,
Among rubbish and disgrace!

46. How many, how many pieces of advice before,
The days have passed in advising people,

47. Like that of Al-Ghazali the Imam,
So read his sayings and ponder them with elation!

48. Read the sayings if you want life,
Read the sayings if you want salvation,

49. Read the sayings to bring you near God,
And you will see truth clearly as witnessed!

50. Read the sayings and make them your companion,
For he is the caring, sweet friend.

51. He is money and treasure most precious!
The best company teaching you eloquence!

52. Meet none but him ever,
You will be inspired with righteousness and avoid mistakes,

53. For he is justice without excess or fault!
All is weighed with the scale of justice!

54. May God guide the heart to the straight path,
Having tread the path made straight,

55. And follow the Sunnah of the noble guide-
He who expounded it and the Qur'an!

56. This saying was stated by just leaders,
Advising sincerely for God and the Messenger,

57. The people of secrets, truth and heroism,
They have walked the line of the safe path!

58. And remember God and He will remember you,
Your Lord who gives generously.

59. Stand at His door and beware to lean-
Ruined is he who is distracted from Him for a moment!

60. Ruined, ruined is he who forgets the Bountiful!
Ruined, ruined is he who forgets the Merciful!

61. Ruined, ruined is he who forgets the Almighty!
That heedless one has incurred loss!

62. Do not meet him, my friend, for I advise you sincerely,
Do not go to him for he is a clear harm,

63. Do not interact with him lest affliction reaches you,
Who touches filth, becomes filthy!

64. We ask God to correct the hearts,
We ask God to forgive sins,

65. And that He accepts the repentance of His sinning servant,
A repentance of sincerity erasing all evil!

66. And complete my life with good, O Lord,
And protect us from every harm and adversity,

67. And guard the heart so that none enters it but You!
Fortify it from all else, with every fortress!

68. We have none to give us but You,
We have no guide but Your guidance,

69. We have no healing but from Your healing,
Grace us when for us there is no recourse!

70. Then bestow peace and blessings always,
As long as lightning flashes or cloud drifts,

71. Upon the Messenger whose thirst is quenched,
With what gushes from the manifest spring!

72. And upon his noble companions and progeny,
Who ascended to the highest station,

73. Remembering them is a mercy dispelling darkness!
Loving them is an obligatory faith held fast!

74. And to You belongs praise without end,
Counting Your grace, existence and aid,

75. For Your blessings cannot be enumerated,
Not by words or the writing of fingers!

76. That my Lord may kindly accept,
And act upon what I know and say!

77. We ask God, Unique of Munificence!
