1. If you want peace, stay home,
Stop talking, hearing, and seeing.

2. Don’t ask what people are up to,
Don’t uncover or search out news.

3. Maybe you’ll be safe and saved,
Maybe you’ll be spared and protected from evil.

4. No good comes from whispering to people,
Except enjoining right and forbidding wrong.

5. How beautiful is one who occupies himself
Privately and openly with devotion.

6. Be content in your home following
The command of the Chosen One in all reports.

7. Take from the religious sciences a portion
That will protect you from sins, harms, and Hellfire.

8. With it you will know your obligations and prohibitions,
With it you will see secrets and lights.

9. With it is all good and every grace,
With it you are protected from the harms of strangers.

10. With it you give requests and gifts,
With it you will be written among the righteous.

11. With it you relieve all your worries and sorrows,
No grief or regrets will remain.

12. Remembering God is an obligation—persist
Upon it morning and night.

13. In it is all light and bounty,
God’s companion is one whose custom is remembrance.

14. By it whispers and attractions come
From God with abundant mercy.

15. By it the gardens are planted—so be eager
To plant them with all kinds of trees.

16. So plant in your life before your death
To reap from it fruits after death:

17. Pickings, gifts, lasting pleasures
Delightful—you will see nothing but joy.

18. Eternal, you will see no misery,
A long life like no other lifetimes.

19. If you want knowledge in every art,
Recite the Book of God repeating it.

20. In it is expansion for the breast. In it
Is guidance. In it is healing from all harm.

21. Except—O Lord—guide us and make firm
And help us to the way of the Chosen Best.

22. Upon the guidance of the Prophet we walk together
And tread the meadows and plains.

23. For God is of tremendous grace
And how much He gives without limit or measure.

24. So do not despair or feel secure, but be
Between these two traits the path of the virtuous.

25. And deliver us, my God, from evils
By which the forbearing wander perplexed.

26. So deliver us purely by Your grace from them
As is Your custom, O Best of Forgivers.

27. How much evil have You prevented and how much anguish
Have You dispelled and nothing can protect from such traces.

28. So I hope for none but You to remove harm
And I fear none but the Harmful, the Beneficial.

29. Your knowledge suffices, but we have no patience
And also in supplication are many secrets—

30. Appeal, neediness, and worship of
Your command through Quran and reports.

31. O Coverer, O Forgiver, cover over
And forgive all my disobedience and burdens.

32. And deliver us from hated things in this life
And in the next from terrors and Hellfire.

33. Grant me, my Master, a sound heart
Healthy, pure, open and secret.

34. With it we walk a straight path—
The path of God openly and secretly.

35. And excellent, beautiful, tremendous character
With which we protect from harm and injuries.

36. And a good ending for us all
When our nights and lifespans are complete.

37. With which You are pleased with all of us
With which we avoid all shame and disgrace.

38. For the sake of the Guide Muhammad
Intercessor of creation, fulfilling all difficulties.

39. Blessings of my Lord upon him always
And peace whenever a branch stirs.

40. Encompassing his family and companions—
The emigrants, nomads, and supporters.

41. To God, the Generous, is due
Immense praise, repeating in all eras.

42. The words conclude—take wondrous advice:
If you want security, stay home.
