1. When, when O Yasa will you be heard
When, when will you return to the homeland

2. O masters, settle near Damascus
How many amidst trouble are buried in front

3. Pure, sincere, filled with passion
For losing them, the people of knowledge yearn

4. The people of virtue, the righteous, the chosen ones
The people of knowledge, purity, and secrets

5. The people of love, guidance, and light
How many secrets in them concealed and protected

6. The home of dew, knowledge, and worship
The home of honor, merit, and leadership

7. The home of contentment, intimacy, and asceticism
Those who love them prospered and those they love

8. You see them at night in mosques
Standing reverently or prostrating

9. Remembering, observant, witnessing
As they dissolve in His remembrance

10. How many states, oh what states
Safeguarded from the vulgar and base

11. Neither for disclosure nor waste
The likes of me, ignorant, has not grasped

12. I cannot describe what I have known
Of their condition, nor what I have heard

13. Or verified or probed
Of their virtues they endure

14. How many noble men of piety
Of knowledge, worship, and devotion

15. And how many verses on their merit
All they say is true and honest

16. The prophets and saints, people of kindness
Their essence was manifest, nothing was concealed

17. Loving them is an obligation of faith
The strongest of ties when pledged

18. I love the righteous and the chosen
Hopefully a home amidst theirs I attain

19. To be with them and be their neighbor
Triumph with them when they triumph

20. Hopefully of the manners of the noble, manners
We experience, like those who have tasted

21. And quench from what has quenched them
Attain in the hereafter what they attain

22. Hopefully from vast generous grace
I attain my hopes without toil

23. And gain proximity of the worshipped Lord
Beyond what these Arabs can fathom

24. I sought You, not them my blamer
No, I did not intend you

25. With miserliness and stinginess I have known you
So I do not heed those who blame

26. Though laden with sins I may be
I hope in the Benevolent Forgiver

27. To forgive my overt and covert sins
And release me from sins shackled

28. Will you see nights make me joyous
And the Merciful allow my ascent

29. And I reach every lofty station
By the sheer grace of God, the Creator

30. Oh Lord, oh Accepter of repentance, turn to us
And do not take us to account for what we harvested

31. Of what we concealed and disclosed
Oh Lord, I said the words of Thul-Nun

32. And seal for us at death with good
And be for us in sojourn and travel

33. Entrust us not to the souls and others
And we see no misery or humiliation

34. And prayers and peace be upon
The chosen Prophet, the perfecter

35. And his family and noble companions
And all who believe in what they believe
