1. Messenger of Allah, we have come to you as visitors
Burdened with sins, we have come laden

2. And with a dreadful matter we have been stripped bare
We came confused and lost

3. People who have transgressed and rebelled against us
And did not heed the rights of our kin

4. They got what they wished from our ears (they insulted us)
And were not content with what they did to us

5. Intercede, most merciful of the two burdens, for us
For you remain the intercessor of sinners

6. Intercede, my master, for us, for we
Came confused from the horrors

7. Intercede, O Messenger of Allah
It is through you, my master, we seek intercession

8. When we claim kinship, and claim children as our own
Do the sons of so-and-so hope for your bounty

9. While your closest kin are deprived of it?
Never! Your nobility would not neglect us

10. And we return from your door disappointed
You are the most merciful of hearts

11. And the gentlest of them in mercy and softness
And the best at bringing kinsfolk together

12. And the most generous to those who come to you for aid
Messenger of Allah, we have come to you

13. The best of all places we could alight
Messenger of Allah, we are now sorely tried

14. And our hearts grieve heavily
Messenger of Allah, we have come to you

15. Looking and hoping
And we hope to attain what we wish for

16. And return successful with that which we sought
Say, my master, you have truly helped them

17. And attained all that was asked, collectively
And stand, my master, against our enemies

18. And disperse their group entirely
Even if we disobeyed or did wrong

19. God is the best of forgivers
We came with humility, brokenness

20. Fearful, regretful, debased
We stood submissively at your door

21. Seeking forgiveness for our sins
We did not prolong our complaints

22. Or overdo our anguish and moaning
For our state is not hidden from you

23. And you know fully what has befallen us
But we voiced this out of our distress

24. For we are pained, my master
So pardon and forgive us, my master

25. For your forbearance embraces the ignorant
And say, “I have fulfilled all your needs

26. And mended your affairs, worldly and religious”
May Allah bless you eternally

27. And grant you peace for the length of years
And your family and companions, and we conclude

28. With praise to Allah, Lord of all beings
