1. An arrival, but I do not say fortunate,
Upon an immoral one who aspires the rule of kings.

2. For his likes a house of infamy flourishing,
And a kingdom, though long in duration, will perish.

3. You have been distant while people's faces shone with good news
When I learned of pride that you would return.

4. You turned away from an Egypt so its enemy rejoiced
And you returned while deep sorrow in my heart persists.

5. You pass by us without an eye towards you looking
Except an opponent, overtaken by rigidity.

6. Your enemies do not pity you out of their hatred
Nor a heart from those hearts affectionate.

7. Why the congratulations! Are there achievements
Yes, they belong to Al-Abbas, they do not perish.

8. So O tomorrow, tell me, is there success without him
That we may rejoice or efforts from you commendable?

9. If not a matter, then why are there processions
Over our gathering, happiness and repeats?

10. In spite of the Khedive’s command you have mobilized
And if no prohibition, then why the troops?

11. Seeing you reminds us of days when revealed
Upon Moses' family, grace and prosperity.

12. And the enemies said when they saw you descend
Hardships from your ancestors, oh how gloomy!

13. Macedonia has targeted us with you, and struck us,
Bringing ease after droughts that destroy and persist.

14. And it destroyed our adversaries when it sought our humiliation,
Aimed arrow with affliction is precise.

15. But when you assumed power you transgressed, and so
The abundant good betrays, while we are blossoms.

16. You have established strong justice, as it suits you
When the Turk is sober and is the anchor.

17. How much innocent blood of ours was shed
Seeking truth, not safety, it aspires.

18. It transgressed, and by the sword of justice its blood flowed
And how much of that blood the trenches have concealed!

19. And how many bodies of multitudes the sea has contained
Roaming in destruction increasingly.

20. Justice has cast them in the sea, so they became
Tearing apart entrails, with melancholic moods.

21. And how much scattered unity of servants became
Organized by Pride of Kings Sa’eed.

22. And how much has Ismael erected in the country a mosque
While a palace in the lands established is ruined.

23. And the great one of the people from us was led shackled
You have spoken truthfully, and this saying from you is right.

24. He rebelled and transgressed, so justice assassinated him, and there rose
Beneath the burdens of shackles one moaning.

25. None of you have stood with justice lightly
You have lied, by God you are most stubborn.

26. Our justice with you, generation after generation, is from our forbearance
And none of you have walked rightly steadily.

27. It is as if I see the king’s palace become dilapidated
You imagined incorrectly, it will return to you.

28. The house that hostility to kings, destroyed
From injustice, and manifest injustice destroys.

29. And the owl laments its ruins, lamenting
Its household, and with tearful eyes flowing.

30. It screams but finds no answer except echo
Accompanying the repetition of elegy, hymned.

31. Abbas, you hope to become the successor,
To serve us, so submit while we are servants.

32. The Sultan will grant you greatest endowment,
As fathers have loved and ancestors aspired.

33. Oh, if only our world would vanish and if only we
Would die if through us but you ruled.

34. So be silent and leave the enemies saying: “if only we
Were in the belly of the earth when you ruled!”

35. Abbas, do not grieve over the kingdom, it surely
Remains as you have thrown it, so how do you want?

36. And indeed, he who opposed you, undoubtedly, his life
Is fleeting, so this sorrow is of no benefit.

37. Abbas, the rule has come into the hand of a just one,
And you build its grandeur and elevate.

38. And indeed, the Commander of the Faithful with his sword
Repels harm from his basin, and protects.

39. For the eyelid of time and out of awe was kneeling
To the greatest evil of Aad, destroying Egypt with intent.

40. Abbas the Khedive has awakened to subdue him
And here he comes today, from it retreating.

41. Britain, your command remains enforced
Upon the betrayer of homelands, so he is ungrateful.

42. And oh State of Abbas! Long may you remain mighty
And your shadow across Egypt's expanse extended.

43. That the matter may become united, organized
For our victorious Sultan Abdul Hamid.

44. And with the Khedive’s justice our country takes pride
And from it injustice becomes, while it is outcast.

45. Would any wolf dare to tread with his leg
Lands with Prince Abbas ruling supreme?

46. With his determination, Egypt of justice has become
A den, and in that den, there are lions!

47. You have occupied the country, and the country lies razed
So it has met you collectively, its old and young.

48. Our Khedive has come to him, so he rebuilt its edifices
And by the virtue of justice it became renewed.

49. Whenever I see the standards with its shadow fluttering
And it deploys for the Sovereign the Praiseworthy, troops

50. And his sublime army and rule of our Prince
Over Egypt’s land, indeed I am joyous!
