وداوية تيه يحاربها القطا

The lost wander aimlessly, led astray,

غشيت لليلى رسم دار ومنزلا

I passed by the abode of Layla though it was in ruins,

وقائلة لا يبعد الله ضابئا

She who said: God does not keep harm from one

من يك أمسى بالمدينة رحله
