1. O Master, turn your attention to Damascus
By my father, Paradise and the Sacred House

2. And cast upon it a glance of compassion
To heal it from the malady that has befallen it

3. Give it the scent of a resolute determination that
For so long has not existed for it, by God the Protector

4. It has fed death the poison of gloom
And let its cupbearer drink the cup of ruin

5. For the son of Ulwan has risen in its land
And the son of Bustan has shepherded the flock of wolves

6. He who was deficient has increased its deficiency
The chief of rabble, nay the Shaykh of the masses

7. And the confined one among his Shiites
Has set out to follow not an imam but an imam

8. So to you and to God has it come
Complaining of its situation with tears of anguish

9. It asks the Master for safety from them both
And from the Master its wishes will succeed

10. Enough is what has befallen it of events
To shake its pillars, by God, with a mighty tremor

11. For Ibrahim, the Mufti of its region is lost
The Imam, the honorable, the man of resolve

12. The Shaykh of the Shaykhs of Damascus whom
The paths of glory have completed with spears

13. And may God keep our Master among us
A pillar of lasting glory until the Day of Resurrection
