1. What excuse is there for time that I am troubled
In a place being destroyed and another being built

2. Out of folly, or malice, or boredom
Who would blame kings if they get exasperated

3. He chooses the best of souls to torment
He is set on tormenting the noble

4. I wish I knew what the Father of Calamity wants
With taking from us and giving to us

5. Every day has a victim and one brought low
Who is grieved for when lost and disgraced

6. We seek cure from its disease when we pine
And we love survival in it, so we perish

7. We are, when we return its gifts in battle
Not all battle is blow and stab

8. And when biers pass, we turn away
As though we don’t notice them passing

9. O rider feeding his steed, when you come
Take word to the shepherd of the flock from us

10. Say to him called the succor in the abode
And by God’s help in war surnamed

11. O glory of the lofty, when were you
A confidante of the people and a boon companion to the youth

12. And long ago you were taken by surprise by good and evil
So you did not choose gladness or grief

13. Tell me about a sigh that makes you double over
And about a tear that disputes the eyelid

14. I am amazed that the renewal of visions
Should be a touchstone for hearts

15. So kings will say one day when
The King of Kings shows affection to me

16. Oh what a proof it will be for one who comes
To it from blame, a fortress

17. God forbid! You are the purest part
Of the hump, most wise, most weighty

18. If your firstborn hastened
To replace you in this house

19. And time has struck you with an arrow
That was a disaster for your character

20. And has assaulted you as you assaulted it
That is how it is for one who pairs with fate

21. My soul yearns for the invalid who
Grew weaker drinking medicine

22. It missed him, and he died before
Enjoying the vigor of youth

23. He walks like a bending branch
The wind has bent his slender form

24. A crescent moon sleeps on the horizon
Ever more beautiful the more it's gazed upon

25. If only we had witnessed on the day of strife
We would have been closer to loss

26. Or we would have staked our noble souls
And death accepts the stake

27. He was a fleeced lamb I lost on the day we parted
The worst sale is one that fleeces

Showing pleasure, but harboring malice

Dense like pepper well ground

35. Make them a road to the heights
By which heights are destroyed and built

36. This omen you dreaded-
Take it as a gift of fate!

37. Life does not stay clear, nor can
The fortunate avoid being plucked

38. Fate threads its highs and lows
Through smooth and rocky destiny

39. You are too lofty to be consoled
For a loss or disgraced by it

40. Stay as the night alternates with day
As the dove moos and sings

41. Preserving the style your father hoped for
His shoulder supported it, your fervor its pillar
