1. He came with a cup of wine in his hand,
So gentle was the breeze that I thought it was his charm.
١. وافى الىَّ وكأْسُ الراحِ في يدهِ
فَخِلْتُ من لطفهِ أَنَّ النسيمَ سَرَى
2. The wine could not perceive his beauty in any way,
Just as the sun cannot perceive the moon.
٢. لم تدركِ الراحُ شيئاً من شمائِلهِ
والشَّمسُ لا ينبغي ان تدرك القَمَرَا
