1. Say to the one who spread calumnies,
And they fought him, so he fought back.

2. None who hoped in you were disappointed,
Nor did any greedy one distance himself from you.

3. As days pass and return,
And the moon wanes and waxes.

4. Time has come to you apologetic,
For what it did.

5. It intended harm, yet brought benefit,
O refuge of one seeking safety from panic!

6. And laughter after despair,
As if it had been aflame,

7. So may you be ransomed by all who feign.
Mixing leisure with haste,

8. As if he were the ravenous wolf
When he saw you wearing the garment (of Caliphate).

9. He witnessed the awesomeness of the rising sun,
His breath, before being subdued,

10. Aspired to set aright the ribs (overthrow the caliphate).
He had been a fog, but dissipated,

11. Deluded eyes, and was deluded.
Oh, wretchedness of the stray sheep

12. Between the two slopes and trunks,
Spending the night in the pasture of the wolf,

13. Seeking refuge through bleating.
To you - my complaint calls passionately,

14. I complain of one who did not stop.
To me, excuses have ample room,

15. His ears are plugged to the heart.
So he hears nothing but what he wishes.

16. We have lowered our weapons and repelled the slander,
And the sword did not touch those it cut down.

17. And we were not like those who grazed
In your honor, and were never sated.

18. I, when war flashed,
And the eggs were broken,

19. And the running reached the slopes,
And the sons of greed escaped,

20. And all false glory was unveiled,
And patience had receded,

21. To old age and infirmity,
The people of piety and devotion –

22. Do not feel secure while lying down,
You went to bed, but did not rest,

23. Surely the leader of innovation,
And of novel deeds,

24. Seeks to kill the people of tradition.
Why was an arrow shot and terror cast,

25. Like an uncouth Bedouin,
Did he escape the jaws of the hyena,

26. Until when he was told “be content,”
He disobeyed in no uncertain terms -

27. He stampeded down a valley and took shelter,
Bearing bitterness time and again,

28. His destiny makes him stoop to pain,
They were subservient to him for ages,

29. Perhaps the day his reason wavers,
He will protect you or be gentler,

30. If he cannot endure outright prevention, then intercede!
Many a difficult matter,

31. Which men implore desperately,
He did not agree to be fooled,

32. He opposed it until he excelled.
No person attained what he prevented,

33. Nor did anything rise that he subdued,
Except for you - you were not contended for

34. From hearts being torn away,
The listener humbles himself before you,

35. You did not seduce him with deception.
The intelligent and the foolish

36. Are fluent of tongue before you,
As if you were never innovated,
