1. I say while in my heart there is a burning fire,
And my tears flow over the graves.

2. If the eloquent one has no luck,
His great virtues appear as flaws.

3. He tries to bring about some benefit,
But distances and kin blame him.

4. If he succeeds they say it was just,
A fleeting accident, not right.

5. And if he fails they say we already,
Saw his failure from the start.

6. On his right is one gloating,
On his left one enviously watching.

7. Such is the way of the world with one,
Whose serious effort avoids vanity.

8. I carried the fetus its full term,
And gave birth to it in the cemeteries.

9. And how can one whose life was,
Spent with the wicked obey requests?

10. My hand has been weaned from attaining,
Goals beyond the strange plans.

11. And it has not gained enough,
For the nights of cold and duty.

12. So I turned away from what had concerned me,
And my heart circles that rose bewildered.

13. I have no stratagem against my Lord’s decree,
When the paths have been blocked.

14. And none can make my agony pleasant,
Except beautiful patience with tribulation.

15. I cried but crying does not avail me,
And I hoped but the lesson of hopes has passed.
