1. You came to me seeking advice, on something
Known to every wise man, with intellect

2. Goodness, if you face it with evil
In life, it was a drop from the sea

3. Don't you see the leper, how his disease
Spreads amongst all the people of Egypt

4. And no healthy and easy person
Gets infected by one accused all his life

5. And the child, when he smiles at you
Throws himself into your lap and grave

6. Yet when teething and nails sprout
He finds no joy or secret

7. And every organ prone to breaking
Is closer to being fixed

8. And its corruption does not spread rapidly
Like the eye, it cannot be cured forever

9. And the death of a child makes his father
Flee, and every bone shiver

10. And there is no good news in his birth
To console the deep sadness of his death

11. And there is no pleasure from thinking
When realized, nor from remembering

12. Rather this is delusion that flows
In the mind of the ignorant fool

13. Can you imagine medicine curing
One sick for a month?

14. And can one feel warmth at the time of chill
By remembering the time of heat?

15. So for the people of knowledge, this world
Is nothing but constant loss and shame

16. The servant is born in it unfree
And so dies, though against his will
