1. I see time being kind to me and leaning towards reconciliation
After depriving me, it brought me success

2. And it listened to me seriously when I called upon it
The wishes started dawning upon me from the morning

3. It came to me on land and sea, more quickly
Than my complaining of need for forgiveness

4. So it was just a prayer that it answered me
An answer of support while it is for me a generous lord

5. Had it not pulled me in my time with its favor
I would have woken up in misery and slept in distress

6. And I would have yearned with heartache, for I have
A painful, incurable wound beyond the pain of wounds

7. So I have, in my day, swimming and work
And in my night, confinement and diversion from swimming

8. If I do not complain to Him, then who can possibly
Be the one I complain to, of harm and affliction?

9. And who else do people find welcoming
Except Him, when the oppressed is in need of beseeching

10. Creatures whose praise cannot be fulfilled even if I were
The most eloquent in rhetoric and articulate speech

11. I am jealous that their attributes are described as strange
That other attributes are associated with them in praise

12. My grandfather guided me to Him when I was lost
Among the immoral poets of little dignity

13. My time was playful so I played with it
But when it got serious, I stopped joking

14. So my poetry gained splendor and eloquence
And it deserved his inspiration in prime eloquence

15. While in the market of non-Arabs it was worthless
My words and praises upon them without profit

16. How many times did I exert my mind praising them
Then I got up tired like withered branches

17. What I praised them with was no use to me
They only increased in stinginess and meanness

18. And they did not pay the penalty for the lies
Written above with what cannot be erased

19. Had I been like poets of my time praising them
I would not have deserved from them but scraps

20. So here I am, in profit and not lying
In praise and flattery when I used to beg

21. O my time, the choice between my success and purpose
Is when I shine and calamities attack my struggle

22. So in His name I start every issue
And with His blessings I hold happiness and opening

23. Indeed, let whoever derided me in my condition
Find my hut more honorable than a palace

24. With his virtues, my status and rank became high
And I reached the utmost wishes and aspiration

25. Whenever my eyes see one who is suffering
Like I used to, I offer him my advice

26. And I say to him, rejoice in what you seek
Whoever one day calls upon His name wins easily

27. He is the glorious, whose fame is endless
Near to the caller, in closeness and approach

28. I am not too far for Him to delay His help
Nor is He too near to tire of gifts

29. He is the decisive helper, a protector
Generous, of pure soul, with a gentle nature

30. The most noble of people, of high lineage
Whose virtues eliminate the need for wounding

31. My lord, master, generous patron
And after God, the pillar of my strength

32. I expected all good and favor from You
And You fulfilled my hopes, truly so

33. You came to me with a promise that You will host me
As You hosted my family in comfort

34. I have no doubt that Your promise will be fulfilled
And that with it, I need no more space

35. So here is my praise, an act of loyalty
Please accept it, my life is yours to spare

36. A generous cave of honor for the disgraced
And shelter for its seeker however the night covers the dawn
