People of affection and allegiance

2. From every region in the Arab world
Of prosperity and brilliance

3. Our loved ones, do not be deceived
About us by the appearance of prosperity

4. Palestine is not easy-going
It is not a cradle for misery

5. Behind the fences, a fox is presented to you
Wearing the garments of splendor

6. That is nonsense, selling
The homeland means losing wealth

7. There is departure from heights
Tomorrow to the valley of demise

8. Today I am a reveler in my cups
And tomorrow I will be discarded in the bareness

9. And I have lost truthful hope
So where is the false hope

10. Who then should I blame but
My countrymen for this affliction

11. For truth there is a line in our papers
And for deception there is a river

12. It flips through its pages
Slandering you and defaming

13. For the indifferent there is vigor
And for the ignorant there is mention

14. This is what they call a leader
And they call that one free

15. And there is the broker of the country
For he is the most cunning fox

16. Praise is like condemnation
Both taint them, green and red

17. The press is like chemistry
By God's creation it has a secret

18. It neglects dignity as if in jest
And chivalry as if in mockery

19. Where is the frank journalist
You can see him declare what he likes

20. A backbone, so no kinship makes him bend
Nor money makes him temptation

21. Since the occupation of the usurpers
And we are looking in politics

22. The case of conscience with politics
Is that of the vulnerable with the slavers

23. Sixteen years have passed on us
That brought misfortune and misery

24. So how long, o son of the country
And you are moved by fervor

25. And how long will the leaders of your people
Deceive you with shrewdness

26. And how many a traitor among them
We have crowned with halos of sanctity

27. And how many times the man charged with protecting our rights
Has wasted our rights

28. By God, there is no one there except
Every hunter of presidency

29. Who profits from selling the country
And what comes to him of meanness

30. And if he fears you it is through newspapers
And impurity belongs to the impure
