1. Calm at heart, with eyelids sealed shut
His soul set free, his body lies at rest

2. An angel at his head whispers his name
Spreading its wings over him, fluttering

3. Gada fills up the cups, her cheek overflows
With the sweet wine of Paradise

4. And all around, flocks of houri
Bear branches of palm and sweet basil

5. While birds warble from the kohl tree
Singing the sweetest melodies

6. The great boasting the finest plumage
The little with the softest coos

7. And the martyr wakes, his chest unbound
Thanking The Most Merciful for His blessings

8. And sits atop a meadow green
With splendor and beauty serene

9. The angels give him wine to drink
That keeps him living through the ages

10. And the light of The King of Kings shines clear
His brilliance causes heads to bow down low

11. Then the martyr is greeted and told
O’ martyr, you shall never die

12. God is pleased with your holy fight
Take your place in eternity’s height

13. For eternal bliss with Me is the reward
Of those who die defending their land

14. A martyr’s fate, O Lord, can only be
Felicity for the true of faith

15. But if his youth still fresh and green
The branch not yet fully grown

16. His blossoms withered, sadly seen
Tossed by the winds, forlorn

17. No words or tears suffice to mourn
A heart's true consolation they cannot impart

18. Forgive us, Lord, if grief makes us cry
For one whose smile shone even in dark times

19. Once sheathed, now a sharpened sword wielded
By hands yearning for freedom’s life

20. His legend melting his foes to nothing
On the day his blade pierced side by side

21. My tears, for my heart you inhabit
If my eyes fail to weep, do not doubt

22. For it is my heart, my woe, my grief
Confidante of sighs and throbs

23. O maid of the open plains, a bride
Courted by daring knights

24. Garlands still fresh, flowers intact
Songs unbroken, singers intact

25. Taverns full, flat roofs scattered
With beauties displayed for all to see

26. And drunkards amidst their cups arising
Maddened by treachery’s bitter wine

27. While the virgins on swings swaying
From the branches, so gay and blithe

28. What of your heart, O bride of earth
Grieved by sorrows beyond dreams

29. Those you were promised as brides, now come
Bringing joy turned to sorrow

30. Grief in my chest resembles but one thing:
The fires in you that rage and burn

31. A teardrop from you, and one from your lover
Both flowing as one stream

32. The departed year left you somber
Glowering - imagine the next!

33. Do not let those betrayals dishearten you
Take refuge in God and the youths

34. The noblest hope and aspiration
How can they be separated now?

35. And the noblest youth, defiant, fearless
A lion cloaked in warrior’s garb

36. Claimed by death then returned
For a day momentous and grand

37. His pages fine Damascus steel
In his scabbard lightning contained

38. A daring physician who heals the illness
Of nations and people pained

39. Roaring beast escaped from prison
To serve the traitors their cup of disgrace

40. What war has France incited in her conceit
Unleashing what she’d never forseen

41. Warriors assembled, nomads provoked
Against that nation steeped in oppression

42. Thoroughbred steeds sprint unrelenting
Bearing them on towards the fray

43. Thirsty swords craving blood
Seeking to slake their thirst this day

44. Ask them, O France, of their feats
For their sons at the vultures feast

45. Build your empires and thrones
Deceit and lies have you sown

46. Those you gift power and glory
Inherit from Banu Marwan

47. They will not desist seeking what is right
Whether by combat or pleas for grace

48. Oh spirit of the martyr, visit Palestine
And tour its fields pained

49. Remove from our hearts the embers of hate
And quell this deep enmity chained

50. Our brothers think only of the cause, yet we
Worry for positions and things vain

51. You who seek status, stop, wait,
Are you victorious or brought low?

52. How could I forget that love of yourself that nursed you
Without it you'd be lost to memory's haze

53. O Palestine, do you not have a secret
Other than one hopeful or secure?

54. I have naught to offer but my longing
And a heart enraptured by you

55. Feelings expressed in my poems
Tears deposited in my sorrows

56. Did our enemies relent as we fell asleep?
Or was disgrace pleasant when free?

57. Where is our champion, where our comforter?
Where is the tormentor of our conscience?

58. So fear God and recall the Levant's stand
And set your sights firmly on the foe
