1. I look at what Al-Muzaffar did, how
He benefited the cause while absent, did not attend

2. He revived hearts, held them dear and held him dear
The iron bars and armies of soldiers

3. They offered bail and dignity to him
In vain, can any offer match his valor?

4. And he saw the hesitation in choosing as disgrace
So he ransomed his dignity with six months

5. His imprisonment did not leave the field of jihad empty
For he threw his flaming heart into it

6. And how devoid was the presence of a thriving army
That walks to it with its faltering steps

7. Indeed, Al-Muzaffar's body is of iron
While theirs, I see, are of sugar
