1. We praised you hoping to reap your fruits
And milk your ancestors' glory and honor

2. Yet we gained nothing worthwhile from praising you
So return the capital or at least some of it in verse

3. For if you do not treat us fairly then we will
Exact from your reputation that final string

4. When the choice of giving or withholding
Lay with you, we chose blame and thanks

5. So do not think that if you gain riches
And exclude us, we will tolerate you
