1. I reached forty, and yet
I have not stumbled a step.

2. Whenever I renew its count
It renews sorrow for me.

3. I hoped to meet it
Resident from the penance of sin.

4. Listening to advice my ear hears
That has made deafness stubborn.

5. So a soul that has taken
Its ignorance as an unjust ruler.

6. It commits sins steadily
Then does not feel remorse.

7. Awakenings all a dream
And existence resembling nonexistence.

8. If I saw the sin flowing
I would not count life flowing.

9. I opposed my soul though it knew
And the harvest of my heart though it knew.

10. And so I have hope
That awaits benevolence and generosity.
