2. So here I am, in both states, depressed and oppressed
Thin, saddened when my eyes show in the morning

3. And roused when the pigeons coo
I denied all else when I knew His permanence

4. The monotheist's belief remains though all else passes
My call to Him ascends every hour

5. Though I don't feel it fully, neither ear nor eye
My days and nights are two gardens in remembering Him

6. So here I am, transported from bounty to bounty
You came, and I spoke no vain prattle

7. You were absent, and I closed no eyes in rancor
I moved You from my eyes into my heart, jealous

8. For You are the locus of my soul, or closer even
Permanent bliss for a glance, if You grant it

9. And Your servant awaits permission, my Master
Creation's share of love is mere empty words
