God's pleasure is the highest aspiration of His servants,

رضا الله أعلى ما ارتجته عبيده

1. God's pleasure is the highest aspiration of His servants,
And His piety is more beneficial than any worldly gain.

١. رضا الله أعلى ما ارتجتهُ عبيدُهُ
وتقواه أولَى منجز تستفيدُه

2. In people, intimacy with the Lord is everything,
When the heart's whisperings are corrected by the devotee.

٢. وفي الإِنس بالمولى هو الانس كله
إذا صحح الذّكرَ الخَفِيَ مريدُه

3. And if he builds the life of this world and their world together,
It is easy prey for the causes of misery and its harvest.

٣. وإن بنى الدنيا ودنياهم معاً
لنهبة أسباب الردى وحصيده

4. When the heart of man is absent from other than his Lord,
His Master in that absence is his witness.

٤. إذا غاب قلب المرء عن غير ربه
فمولاه في ذاك المغيب شهيده

5. May God preserve the hearing of the wise one,
Whenever His promise or warning comes to him.

٥. ألا حفظ الله المصيخ لسمعه
إذا ما أتاه وعده أو وعيده

6. And whoever makes remembrance an intimate discourse,
Repeating it with relish and reiterating it,

٦. ومن جعل الذكر حديثاً لنفسه
يردِّده مستعذباً ويعيده

7. Saw asceticism in the abode of annihilation, so its sights
Did not appeal to him beyond what sufficed the ascetic.

٧. رأى الزُّهد في دار الفناء فلم ترق
نواظره مما أتاه زهيده

8. And was certain that all things belong to God,
So from yearning, his preparation and mustering.

٨. وأيقن أن الكلَّ بالله لاحق
فمن شوقه إعداده وعديده

9. And was good to the created in the right of the Creator,
So He granted success in what he intended and increased him.

٩. وأحسَنَ للمخلوق في حق خالق
يوفقه فيما نوى ويزيده

10. And was not content save with justice among people as a trait,
With worldly life fulfilled, and a religion that benefits him.

١٠. ولم يرضى إلا العدل في الناس شيمة
بدنيا يوفِّيها ودين يفيده

11. It is the knowledge adding to every shadow,
And sufficient for him from that which afflicted and supported him.

١١. هو العلمُ لاضافي على كلِّ ظلة
وكافيه مما نابه وعميده

12. An imam with both the religion and the world in his grasp,
Deeds none of his servants achieved before him.

١٢. إمام بكفيه من الدّين والدّنا
مآثر لم يخلص إليها عبيده

13. So his wise words are eloquent,
And his tested sword is sharp.

١٣. فمقول ذا عالي الخطاب فصيحهُ
وصارم ذي ماضي الغرار حديده

14. Indeed, the Commander of the Faithful is master
Of those above, from scholars to the unique.

١٤. وإن أمير المؤمنين لسَيدِّ
لمن فوقها من عالم ووحيده

15. For him are processions of Muslims' prayers,
Directed through events as he wishes.

١٥. له من دعاءِ المسلمين مواكب
تصرفها الأقدارُ فيما يريده

16. For that, openings come to him in succession,
And every matter he wants is brought near to him.

١٦. لذلك تأتيه الفتوحُ تواتراً
ويدنو له من كلِّ أمر يعيده

17. Unique in existence is his purpose, and for it
The ruler of India assumed the caliphate as his necklace.

١٧. فريد الورى معناهم ولأجلها
تقلَّد هنديّ الخلافة جيده

18. So he did not cease being faithful to what rouses him,
Nor cease being victorious over those who scheme against him.

١٨. فلا زال وصَّالاً إلى ما يحثُهُ
ولا زال منصوراً على من يكيده
