1. I was stricken on the day of al-Sa'id with intoxication
An affliction that I had no experience of before

2. By Allah, I shall never forget my affliction
You would not hear me wailing over it or the camels

3. Nor do I complain about it or rely on it
After it, all afflictions are insignificant

4. Neither the bier knew what was upon it
Nor did the bearers know what they carried

5. Until they buried him in their tomb
Until his friend's term came to an end
