1. Take first your cup of pure intellect
Free from nonsense, strip away its rags

2. And steep it for a day and night or more
In modesty's soft water, gently soaked

3. Then carefully make reason's water boil
With care, gently, and avoid excess

4. Take understanding's butter, wisdom's whey
With prudence' saffron, brightly red and pure

5. Now add each spice and herb, crushed into dust
And beat them till they mix and emulsify

6. Increase with generous scoops of good sense
To drain what's left in your belabored noggin'

7. Take a cup each morn, as remedy
Persist in this treatment, and you'll find success

8. The humors of madness gently will descend
And you'll be safe from all you wish to flee

9. If you prefer to end this malady
At once, to make you vomit from up high

10. Increase a portion of wild mustard seed
Or, lacking that, try blue fenugreek instead

11. If the taste is bitter, and it makes you gag
Fearing excessive retch or slippery lug

12. Try extract of donkey urine, dog bile
Aged and yellow, not too thin or watery

13. And from a rotten, broken, ancient plow
Darkened on top with layers of blue rust

14. Make it in a mortar, crushed and beaten
With vomit thin, or urine fully putrid

15. When all is mixed and blended into one
Take what you crave, in sips and gulps and swigs

16. Roll them into little pills to swallow
Coat with spittle, swallow, do not choke

17. If some sticks in your throat, then gargle it
At bedtime, snort and make yourself babble

18. Fumigate yourself, each day and night
To drive away the jinn, make demons scatter

19. Use it to brush your gums and shining teeth
For when you scrub your lips, they brightly sparkle

20. Take no other toothpaste, for none's as good
More nourishing, or better suited for you

21. Beware, don't tire of my advice, don't shirk it
For if you follow it, you'll have good fortune

22. This will cure your insanity for sure
Although its taste is awful, for a fool
