1. Though one who seeks fragrance in empty wastes
Is like a seeker lost in shifting sand,
١. وَإِن طالَبَ فرّاءٍ بِمَعرفة
كَباحِثٍ طالِبٍ في رَملَةٍ وَشَلا
2. Folly and malice there indeed exist,
But naught besides. Of that there is no doubt.
٢. فيهِ السَخافة وَالبَغضاء لا جرم
مَوجودَتان وَأَما غَيرُ ذاكَ فلا
