1. They struck the domes and plastered them with mud
And erased its stars like lamps in Minā

2. They built walls upon the suns and tasked
The shooting stars with stoning the visitors of the structure

3. They veiled faces with horse-armor
Had it faced the army of darkness, it would have bent

4. They dragged banners to the zeniths above the excellent
Had the day traversed its plains, it would have weakened

5. By God, a people whose beauty snares glory
Sniped wishes for their eyes from us

6. Lions that roar for their dens and lions that guard their lair
They drew out swords and sheathed them in scabbards

7. If an enemy visits them, they polish their swords
Or a slanderer, they sharpen their eyes

8. You would not find them unless the calamity astonishes you
From the tremor of a branch brandished or an arrow launched

9. Tigers bow under their flowing garments
The tips of lances and branches in the thickets

10. From every veiled belle exposed in elevation
Or every voyager the years conceal

11. We are alerted by the flashing of their weapons reaching them
And we see the glow of their faces so we are cautious

12. I swear by the tenderness of their cheeks and their cheeks
Like roses except they cannot be plucked

13. How many died outside their fence, slandered
While the soul still survives in demise

14. I housed them in my ribs so their homes
In munificence and their suns in eclipse

15. O companion, if you come to Hejaz, set out with us
To As-Safā for my love is all here

16. Seek the aroma of its soil if you wish for earth
For pearls are where we scattered our agony

17. And recite to my heart there for its stance
Is where the heartsick halted in Minā

18. Ask the resting places if you doubt for they
Will inform you of chastity and piety

19. O people of Mecca, if only He who cracked the seeds
Shared love equally between us

20. You freed your bodies from us to misery
And with you are our souls in the captivity of distress

21. Your gazes stole the darkness of our hearts
And your waists compensate us for its gloom

22. You prevented Zamzam from us out of fear of our passion
And threw embers of your fervor at us

23. Your gazelles thirsted us and your lions
With sheets of steel deny us drink

24. Why does dawn of your union not emerge?
And your centuries stole the nights of our separation

25. Do you claim we alter our passion?
By your truth our covenant remains

26. We betray your covenant, which is entrusted
Our notions took it as pledges

27. I conceal my love for you so its secret appears
And the soul cannot be hidden if the breeze is gentle

28. Through you I fell in love so had I greeted you
I would say peace be upon me for you are me

29. By God days on amusement elapsed
I wish they would return to us

30. Days of joy whenever by their faces
The intrigues of love and bliss appeared to us

31. And the life watered trysts of pleasures that were
In which the branches of company turned aromatic

32. And the shades of friends as if their breeze
For Abul Hussein blows gently through the branches

33. A king whose might curbed him and whose rank
Turned him from the ornaments of titles or jewelry of teknonyms

34. Generous, if vegetation praised life
He interprets it figuratively though it is literal

35. A spear that armies of cavalry, if gathered by it
Alight as individuals of charging or a group

36. The gashes are delighted by its strike for glory
And innocence satisfies harm in the pain of passion

37. Its wars at the mouths of wounds
Praise it thinking they are tongues

38. The blades prostrated to its resolve - do you not see
In them the mark of prostration, bent?

39. Its lofty spearheads nearly
Stab the chests before the bodies they pierce

40. A house of glory from kings or else
Its loftiness refuses to be weighed by their weight

41. It pours towards the noble delegations in hearing
Yearning like overflow pours to song

42. Hastening to the scream when called
Cautious in it from the offender and protector

43. So leaves pour down dew in fear of it
Thus we resort to branches to be safe

44. And the fire in dread of death by it
Fled to the core of boulders to hide

45. And the treasuries from envy of its open-handedness
Weep in woe and think they will never be rich

46. A hero whom thunder in his land nearly
Fears the sound of thunder so it does not declare us

47. If the sea honored the clouds like its delegation
Of pearls, it nearly lacked storing us

48. Or the moon sought it in ascension
It would not be pleased with the honor of the Pleiades as residence

49. Or the crescent sold themselves to him for the price
Of his shoe’s strap, they would not profit from us

50. Guarded is its glory with tigers so its preserves
Tell of constellations in fortification and beauty

51. The horizon does not deny its fortune for them
Or has it not worn black mourning clothes?

52. Death stands amidst the crowds by it not
Seeking the brains until it permits

53. His will prevailed and the world
Cast the reins of elevation to it and enabled

54. So when its opinion demanded an impossible matter
If it were improbable to exist, it would enable

55. O you whose emergence heralds guidance
And good omen is in seeing you we gain certainty

56. The soul since you traveled is not but anguished
Made an orphan by you so its throbs will not calm

57. Loss emaciated it for so long that indeed
Emaciation indicates its passion and proves

58. It hid the guidance when its beacon departed
You lodged in it so radiance emerged clear

59. You were in it and it was a rising dawn
Until you departed and it returned pitch darkness

60. After you left, afflictions permitted the enemy
From it citadels and you came to it so it fortified

61. It became sorrowful due to your absence for youth
And now it became a source of joy for happiness

62. The Beneficent never made His lands desolate of you
Ever and its glory did not abandon residence

63. My master, the enemy did not cease subjected to you
Terrified and time submitted to you so it yielded

64. If they asked you then treat them well
For the satisfaction of God for He was good to us

65. Do not be surprised if you are tested by their deceit
The freeman is tested by the sons of fornication

66. So restrain your sight with patience, vigilant
And collect your opinion consciously, perceptive

67. And forgive the mistake of one who, if an excuse he seeks
And he is eloquent, turns coward, scrawny tomorrow

68. I know your absence from me is a sin but I say
Lamenting, separation from you is not trivial as suffering

69. Glory continues rejoicing in you and not
Did your separation bring gloom upon elevation, hardships of life
