1. She moved gently, so the branch bent as if bound
The full moon appeared, so it shone unveiled

2. She smiled, so her dimples scattered like gems
Strung on the thread of dawn, perfectly lined

3. She blinked, so I thought her kohl-lined eyes
An idol addressing me, a gazelle speaking

4. She moaned, so her glances surpassed in aim
The arrows of archers, supreme in skill

5. She donned red clothes, so she resembled
A rising sun, rosy at the horizon's edge

6. Polished like swords, as if her essence
Was mixed with mercury, smooth and bright

7. We never knew the slender branch could shine
With sap, blossom, and leaves unfurl

8. Intoxicated by her soft frame's charm
I fear her bones may come apart and separate

9. I lower my eyes from her cheek's waves
Lest I look and get lost, never to return

10. The epitome of beauty that shows clearly
The disbelief of the abstainer, and love of the passionate

11. The morning breeze visits her, yet dreads her people
So it comes and goes, rises and falls

12. Her tent is white, sheltering a white pearl
Embraced to be pierced by the arrows of fate

13. Neither the wind can convey my greetings
Nor can a specter sneak in and reach her

14. Her tent was never devoid of a jealous lover
Or a passionate admirer, smitten and fervent

15. Around her, hearts of lovers spend the night awake
Like moths around a flame, being consumed

16. In passion for her, how many hearts have flowed
In sorrow, clutching their breasts in agony

17. How many lions, vanquished, without her
Complain of weapons with glances that pierce

18. She combines beauty and charm, so I dread
And yearn to see her, in constant turmoil

19. With his cheeks and sword both coming at you
Each stained with blood of hearts slick and smooth

20. Beauty matched his cheek, and sword alike
Both painted with blood of hearts they pierce

21. He comes in bloom, posture bent with pride
Or with iron, leaning, about to strike

22. His mouth froths from drinking the beloved's wine
And from the cups of death, his fangs bare

23. In his hands, sparks from the fire of death
On his cheek, water of youth, glimmering bright

24. On many a night I visited her abode
Though death lurked around, attentive and watchful

25. I hurried, walking atop the thorns of sorrow
Trampling misfortunes, crushing adversity

26. Until I attained a hidden pearl
More precious than her tent's brocade, never torn

27. I refrained out of chastity and piety
To avoid causing my honor shame and disgrace

28. If not for my chastity towards her
The red of death and blue of steel wouldn't stop me

29. O Lord, days gathered us in union
Though the separation between us looms and nears

30. Time foils our schemes to part
Uniting us again, making our paths meet

31. Our tent poles are still standing and watering place still sweet
Meadow of life fertile, grassy, and sleek

32. My chest holds moons of a living tribe
They pitched their tents above the sun and took camp

33. Faces like suns or traits of Abu Al-Hussein
Woven together, most wondrous and unique

34. Son of the Trustee, Al-Murtada his name
Successor to the generous leaders that remain

35. A rain of dew, splitting the clouds of calamity
Lord of gifts, eloquent and articulate

36. A free man, whose manner makes clear that if
Darkness falls, from him suns will radiate

37. Noble traits that show his character was shaped
And molded within the clouds compassionate

38. Kindest to kings in hand, and most generous as a father
Truest to Muslims, gentlest with those downtrodden

39. Soul of the age, its heart and its right hand
Palm of generosity, its bounty and favor

40. Lenient, when time is long his promise
Is truer than the last dawn, and more veracious

41. A sea that with his palm turns iron to sparks
A blaze that melts mountains and lays them to waste

42. He's joy on the throne, and when on his steed
A speech most eloquent, rhythmic, and savory

43. He surpassed the generous ones, though his time
Came after theirs, thus the last yet the foremost

44. Say to those who deny his greatness and question it
Contemplate him, investigate, verify, and dig deep

45. Flip through the pages of glory, for in those sheets
His meaning is the most precise, so precise and pore

46. The masters can't fathom his loftiest traits
Even if they flew on wings of eagles aloft

47. How they vie to emulate his noble attributes
As gardens aspire to match the most ornate

48. Nothing in the cosmos parallels his lofty stature
Nor on earth matches his wisdom and intellect keen

49. To call another generous is incorrect
Except his father, in truth none can compare

50. His flower is the drizzle of spears and his rose
The red of swords, his buds narcissus gleam

51. He loves nobility, so his heart is obsessed
With nothing but the best of virtues it seems

52. He jokes with charm in speech, yet his aim
Is the glory of merits, not coquetry and tease

53. If not for lightning confused with the smile of gazelles
Their flashing would not bother him, radiant and bright

54. In many a battle, the clamor of his victory
Sings while death groans, wails, and cries

55. The floating clouds above it condense to rain
With lightning striking the foe, pouring and seeping

56. Its downpour makes the flames of his lions flare
Melting their stillness until it starts streaming

57. A maiden, since her youth calamity was born
Steel grew firm and from her the swords came unsheathed

58. A destroyer, white of clothes, as though
Among them, a servant with cataracts bleached

59. It narrowed, so he widened it, and its expanse
Without him, from the tailor's needle would have stitched tight

60. He scaled its depths, and without his sword
I'd believe its dawn never breaks and splits light

61. A singular whom in each part of his being
You see flow the drizzle of dew that streams and spills forth

62. No chest ever held the world within it
As his does, where all of the land amasses and fits

63. Lord of bounty and father of the illustrious
Release them and untie the fetters of favors immense

64. The best of sons, stars on horizons of guidance
Moons in the night of calamity, banishing darkness

65. Successors spreading bounty without end
Numberless, ceaseless, nothing can cause to desist

66. They are sweet-smelling to even the harshest of souls
Of gentler temperament than the soft summer breeze

67. Bearing the crescent, they grasped the stars
Dotting the full moons, glimmering with gleam

68. A hunt, when mounted on steeds you'd think them
Eagles in sky with the lions embroidered

69. If they tasked the horses to ascend to the heavens
They'd carry them over the galaxies it seems

70. I swear by them and their glory, my heart is devoted
Calm, loving them, from this loyalty never to cease

71. The kindness of their father took hold of my neck
So I am his captive, unable to be freed

72. I am honored to serve him, esteeming this
My manners refined and speech following suit

73. From it, my eloquence I have gained, which to him
I gift as property and trust, not to be misused

74. So when praising them, it is from their father's wealth
Upon them I spend, for it is theirs, not mine

75. My Master, may you always be cheered by grandeur
And may God grant you all that you need

76. With the fortune of your two sons, Ahmad and his brother
Mahmoud, joy has poured upon all to see

77. Leaves sing merrily, branches clap and dance
As leaves on boughs of trees flutter and gleam

78. Two apple branches, atop glory's tree
Each at its peak, hanging over and looming

79. Like two earrings, raised above
Eyes that gaze upon them watchful, not blinking

80. Two lanterns of two intertwined lights like
Two hawks, between them no divide or cleavage

81. Like two gems combined, both finer
Than the shining moon, brighter and beaming

82. Two pearls from two seas, both a torrent
In which the deep diver wanders and sinks

83. Two arrows, close by you see
Each striking the enemies, burning and reeking

84. Sons of Hussein, of virtue and piety
Moon of glory, would that he stay unfading

85. Noble, with revival of our creed after him
A memory beautiful, loved and heartening

86. He left five full moons for us
Perfect, the middle one the most perfect and becoming

87. Upon him the doves of mercy poured
Their dew, quenching him each morn and perfuming

88. Safety's King, our refuge from harm
May God protect you from evil and unease

89. The breeze of generosity and grandeur blew open
So inhale the pride that in you dwells, aroma soothing

90. Sip the sweet nectar, the joy your traits usher
Noble mannerisms that make foes boil, cheeks flaming

91. And wear the most honored of robes
That time itself wears out, while tailors sew and stitch more
